Nobody said that. 08 and going forward on the younger ages they likely do. Nobody claimed there are 06, 05 and 04s out there on CCL, NPL or other similar teams that have not already gone to DA or ECNL. This has been the issue for Spirit/Metro since the beginning as a startup club with no feeder having to find talent that has already moved on to other clubs. But certainly a club like Stoddert at Pre-DA ages has 3-4 kids who are capable of playing DA and ECNL. There always have been they have just simply gone to other clubs in the past. |
No. There is one player on Stoddert 08’s who maybe would make Arlington Red but they already have enough of that type of payer. Arlington likes big fast physical players. Mclean and BSC like technical players, Loudoun goes for athleticism, Metro is too early to say...so which DA/ECNL club will take 3-4 08 Stoddert players? Stoddert coaching is not technical so you are not developing skilled players. Maybe Metro? The other DA/ECNL clubs keep their own- ie you have to be clearly better vs those clubs top players. This is why Metro could succeed in a few years. |
I think the bigger point of claiming a club like Stoddert having 3-4 players that Metro could use is more about what you are implying above. The claim is not that Stoddert has 3-4 NT quality players but that they have 3-4 players who are "like" players already at Arlington, McLean etc. Knowing those clubs will tend to keep their own player over taking a player who is similar. The Arlington player is certainly a capable DA player and so is the Stoddert player. |

Metro. Let's introduce some facts. Stoddert 08 is the #7 team in VA on YSR. They have DA talent. More talent than FCV (#10) but less than Arlington (#4). These Stoddert players are being coached by Metro coaches right now. They are getting DA level coaching and exposure on a weekly basis. They are building a relationship with Metro. Not hard to see how this pans out. Add in the Metro 08s who are playing up in DA right now. They could be the best of the local DA teams at 08 next year.

And the Stoddert kids will be added to a GFR core who has been competitive with FCV. The 09 GFR team is certainly light years ahead of the current FCV 09s and on par with the likes of Arlington and Loudoun. |
Add in some Metro DA talent from the GFR team that beat the top FCV team 2-1 last September. |
GFR 08 beat FCV 08 pre-DA by a score of 2-1 last September. They also beat FCV's 2nd team 9-2 last year. |
| GFR also won their Jeff Cup bracket last year. While just a mid tier bracket it was a bracket above FCV who went 1-1-1 in the tourney to finish third in their bracket. |
| The recent panic on this board now makes more sense. |
|
Stoddert also lost to Arlington Red just 2-1, so on their own they are competitive with Arlington and they tied tied a 8th ranked Richmond Strikers B team 1-1.
The Stoddert 08 team is not a pushover. Adding their top players, with GFR core players and putting Metro playups at age? Metro 08 will not be a pushover team. And lets not forget some possible Potomac kids and other outside players. |
No panic over U12 soccer makes sense. But I know what you mean. Somebody obviously has an agenda and wants to discourage potential competition. |
| Arlington 08 does not have true DA level talent. Anyone want to disagree? |
It seems like the parents posting on this thread must be on their first go-around with ECNL/DA. MANY of the kids that are studs at U11/12 will not be in 3 years. All of the hand-wringing right now is a waste of your energy. Some of these girls will continue to develop. Many will not. Some will lose interest and burn out (especially those with hyper-involved parents). The high-level soccer gauntlet hasn't even started for these kids... |
More crapola. What large fangs you have! |
Is this a true statement about BSC 2008G Blue (now called Fury)? Are all of their players talented and very technical? |
