We have only been to Liberty and Snowshoe.
Can you rank the following? A. Liberty B. Snowshoe C. WIsp D. Wintergreen E. Massanutten F. Bryce G. Camelback H. Other I have 10 and 12 to boys who are intermediate skiiers who have been skiing for about 5 years. |
| whitetail |
|
Seven springs
Camelback Snowshoe Liberty Wisp Wintergreen/massanuten ....Bryce |
| I think it’s impossible to rank. They serve different budgets/purposes. Liberty/whitetail are great for day trips. Snowshoe would probably be our favorite of those listed, but it’s expensive. Okemo is a couple hours longer drive but nicer. |
| Have to agree with the Seven Springs poster. Plus, there is Hidden Valley which has several fun, scenic slopes - and a more family vibe. |
|
For day trips, Whitetail, then liberty
For weekends- snowshoe, seven springs, timberline/Canaan, Wisp. |
| Curious if people are actually getting covid tests prior to skiing in PA. Do only adults have to test? |
Op here. Will definitely check out whitetail as a day trip. Trying to decide when and where to actually go for a weekend trip. Are places like snowshoe. Seven springs and wisp very crowded on weekends? We just got our own skis and went to Liberty for the first time this winter. |
| For a day trip I would choose Liberty over Whitetail. I found Whitetail to be icy the two times I’ve been. Bryce is also nice but is small. Only had 9 trails I believe. We went last week though midweek and enjoyed it. For a night or two night trip I think Wintergreen and Seven Springs are both great. |
I think they dropped that at the start of this year, but they also aren't checking. Whitetail is 2 miles into PA from the MD border, on a little country road. |
| Seven springs is limiting the number of lift tickets it sells. Somewhat crowded last weekend (MLK) but we felt pretty well distanced on the slopes. Fairly high mask compliance and lifts limited to those who you came with - no strangers. Plus the snow was great! |
Are you looking for a weekend away or a day trip? Liberty and whitetail are close if you are looking for a day trip. I prefer whitetail, my kids like liberty for the terrain park. Lift lines in the front of the mountain are longer at liberty. Massanutten and Bryce are tinny, kids will be bored quickly. Snowshoe- Biggest of the bunch. if you are looking to go this season good luck getting a weekend lift tickets. They are sold out most weekend. |
No on is checking and I can guarantee no one is testing. Parking lots are backed with DC, MD and VA plates every weekend. |
Op here. We decided on snowshoe and realized no weekend lift tickets are available like you said. I guess it isn’t even about what is best anymore. Massanutten also has no weekend availability. Do any of these places have weekend availability? |
Try Timberline/Canaan for the weekend trip. Cute area and 2 ski resorts across from each other. Closer then Snowshoe and they just invested 10m to reopen Timberline |
