Presidential Scholar nominee list

Do colleges care about this and do they check the list if they do?

We found out DC made the list but they'd already submitted all applications so no mention on any of them...

My DD was a Presidential Scholar candidate a couple years ago (plus NMF/S). I don’t think they care at all. They already have your kid’s excellent scores, right? Nevertheless, it’s an enjoyable feeling for a parent!

Is the requirement a 36 overall or 36/36/36/36 for ACT?
1600 for SAT?

Just another bullet to accomplish section. I don’t think it did much to our kids but certainly didn’t hurt.

I think the timing is such that it very rarely matters for admissions purposes (other than of course the underlying high scores).

If DC is applying to Ivies which won’t come out for months definitely let schools know.

For DC Presidential Scholars, anyone know what the SAT cutoff was for the top 20 dc girls and boys? I know there are some candidates who aren't top 20/automatic candidates as well as the top 20 automatic qualifiers. I doubt there were 40 boys and girls with 1600s, but I assume mid to upper 1500s?

Why? The Ivies a kid applied to know the kid got a perfect score, which is what it takes in our area to make the list. So there is no relevant new information to be shared.

Recently ~1540 for DC. Near 1600 (if not 1600) for MD/VA. Clearly this has been a weird year, so maybe different.

Usually, more DC residents get PS than NMSF. With a normal NMSF cutoff of 1490, that would normally translate to 1550/1560 SAT for NMSF. So, 1540 seems reasonable for PS.

Not sure you can, but there was a long thread on College Confidential a couple of years ago that identified the DC cutoff and said that if you called the PS people they would tell you your state's cutoff.
