Could you share what to eat on those 2 fasting days ? Do you do one meal or break down through out the day . What type of food you eat to make 500 calories and feel satisfied and not hangry .
And did it help you with weight management? |
|
You fast for 5 days and eat for 2?
Sounds like a miserable lifestyle. Besides the yo-yo effect your body will sustain when you go back to eating every day like... a regular human being. |

OP here
I tried no carb or sugar diet , no alcohol for 10 days my weight hasn’t changed much . The only carbs were from veggies( didn’t eat any potatoes ) . The only thing now after not eating sugar my chocolate that I used enjoy taste cheap ??? I don’t have sweet tooth but occasionally I might eat few small pieces . I tried 16:8 for a month didn’t help much either . I do have thyroid issues and started gaining weight 5 years ago , till than I was 145 lb , 5.6. Now I am 192 lbs . Also want to clarify my diet hasn’t changed much , I do not eat junk or drink soda . Didn’t grow up eating that way , therefore never had cravings. I usually eat 2 times a day . My drink usually unsweetened tea . I drink water 2 big glasses a day ,i do work out 3 times a week |
No opposite you fast 2 days and era regular on 5 days |
| On my fasting days I do a clean water fast...water and black tea of black coffee only, with salt as needed. |
Have you spoken with your doctor? Is your Thyroid in control? I would look there before fasting if you're already eating a healthy diet. Sorry, OP. It's a frustrating struggle. |
So you don’t eat even 500 calories ? Just water and coffee ? How many days do you fast per week ? And how did it help you to manage you weight ? Thank you so much fir sharing |
Yes I see my doc every 6 months , only suggestion eat less move more . Which I am trying but still not much . So I thought maybe 5:2 will truck my system . So I am here try to get some info . |
If your thyroid is under control then there is no reason you shouldn't be able to lose weight. How many calories are you consuming? How accurately are you tracking? 16:8 and all the random diets don't matter if you are not eating in a calorie deficit. I have been there and done that. Losing weight is hard. It takes consistency over a long period of time. Most people who fail give up too soon or don't stick to their diet consistently enough. |

I've done 5-2 before. I only drink water during the 2 fasting days.
If I fast more than 5 days, I supplement with electrolytes (some real salt works fine). My record is 10 days but I had a lot of weight to lose. |
|
Start with 6:1 then move to 5:2.
Only water or unsweetened tea on the fasting days. You absolutely get used to it and I ended up looking forward to my fasting days. |
| For 16:8 did you eat a lot of protein OP? I found cutting sugar/reducing carbs and 16/8 effective. I yo-yo'd back after 6 months because I resumed excessive sugar foods. |
| Lol it’s stupid. Are you really going to fast for two days a week for the rest of your life to keep up with this? You need to eat less and move more. I get you said you did that but obviously, it’s not enough. Exercising 3 days out of a 7 day week is nothing and odds are, you aren’t working out enough on those days. If you are only eating two meals a day and not snacking but not losing weight then look at what you are eating and how much you are consuming. You need to change your lifestyle, not deprive yourself because you have no will power |
How long it took you before you saw the difference in weight ? Thank you for sharing |
Yes mainly protein and low carb veggies, I do not eat sweets except few times a week few peaces of chocolate , I don’t eat any processed food. So no hidden sugar . The only sugar is my coffee with 3 table spoons of goat milk that’s all. I am on gluten free diet so the only real carb I get is small bowl of rice once a week. |
