| Can I lose weight without exercise? I don’t have much time to workout. Is it harder, impossible, what other benefits or cons? |
| It depends. How much weight? What are your expectations? A few pounds, yes. Major weight reduction, probably not |
| Yes you definitely can but the cons are you’ll probably lose muscle mass along with the fat, you might look flabby even at goal weight and you won’t feel as good. Your heart and lungs will also not be as healthy as they would be with some moderate exercise |
| Yes. It is all about calories in vs out. You will just need to eat less than if you were exercising a lot. There are other cardiovascular benefits ti exercise though. |
| Yes but it won’t be as fast as combining it with working out and as someone mentioned, you may lose muscle as well. Exercising has a huge benefit such as stronger bones, good cardiovascular system etc. I find it hard to believe that you can not take 30 mins out of your day to work out. I mean, you have time to get on DCUM so.... |
Not true! I was able to lose something like 40 lbs with just dieting when I had a knee injury and couldn’t exercise. As another PP said, it’s all about calories in vs. calories out. That being said, OP, you should still try to exercise for health reasons. |
| Yes you can but you wont be toned. |
| Yes, keto + intermittent fasting and you will lose as much weight as you want. I don't even think of it as a diet. It's more like a cheat code or magic trick. |

Diet —> weight
Exercise —> body composition You can definitely lose weight without exercising. |
| Absolutely! I’ve lost 20 pounds just from counting calories. I’m about to add in exercise though so I can begin toning my body. |
| Yes. But you won’t feel as good, and you’ll look less toned |
| For sure. I post 50lbs without exercising (and have kept it off for 7 years now). I did eventually start working out for the sake of my health, but I think of it separately. Weight is about food, and cardiovascular health (and the health of many other systems) is about movement. Both of those things (weight and health) are also influenced by sleep. So it depends what your goal is. If your goal is health and you don’t have serious obesity you will get the most bang for your buck health wise working on sleep first, movement/exercise second, and weight third. But if your goal is really losing fat, that is all about food. |
| Yes, but you will have to dramatically restrict calories and won't feel great. |
|
If you don’t already work out, it’s probably easier to just focus on your eating. As in, don’t eat much.
Personally exercise is the only thing that keeps me sane, so I could never cut it out. I feel so much better getting an hour of exercise a day (at least). If I weigh 5lbs heavier because I’m a bit hungrier, so be it. |
+1 Have You heard you can’t outrun a fork? But exercising keeps you healthier. |
