My parents, my husband, my FIL and now even my kids are asking me for a gift list. Is it 2020 or is it just me in a rut not knowing what I even want anymore?
My go to wishes are experiences (which- you know...2020...) I also like jewelry but now that I don’t go anywhere it seems pointless not even mention wasteful in today’s economy. Pleas share your holiday Christmas wishes to see if they can inspire me. |
| I need very little and don’t want my kids spending $$ on me. I specifically asked for a winter hat with a furry Pom Pom and a Ruth Bender Ginsberg t shirt. My needs are simple.I have sons so a link is always appreciated. |
| I asked for charitable donations this year. I have enough and I worry a lot about the many people who are hungry or in dire financial straits this year because of COVID and the economic issues that resulted from it. |
| Do you drink coffee? For those who do but aren't getting out of the house regularly like before but still want good coffee drinks what about a fancy cappuccino machine? It can make all sorts of different coffee drinks. |
| With all the cooking i asked for a new brasier or a larger dutch oven. Im getting my own mom some fancy hydration masks and good mascara for zoom meetings. Id also love a cool new deck of cards (i collect them) and new pj tops and slippers. |
I'm PP. I didn't read the few responses before I wrote this, so whoever wants to can slam me for being superficial and selfish but I will say that we have donated a lot this year to charities and families like a PP mentioned. I was thinking OP was asking for things that would truly be for her. For what it's worth, I asked for a new vacuum for Christmas but the coffee machine idea was something I had spoken about with a friend's husband and I know my friend will be thrilled with it since she misses her normal Starbucks routine since she doesn't go to the office anymore. |

Not knowing your budget, or that of your kids, a few smaller ideas...
New comfy pajamas or loungewear, or even a giftcard to Athleta or Lululemon or someplace to pick it out yourself. Do you read? Maybe a giftcard to Amazon or better yet your local bookstore. Would your DH or kids recognize the skincare line you use if they looked in your bathroom? If so, could they buy a refreshed set for you and add in something you might not treat yourself with (an expensive serum?). We got a new dog and it sheds so DH is "surprising" me with a Dyson stick vacuum. It's a pandemic winter, what will make you feel cozy? New warm slippers, a weighted blanket? Do you workout outside? If so, what about new cold-rated athletic gear or silk underwear? |
I'm 8:34. Not superficial and selfish. In my family, it's never been acceptable to just give giftcards or donate to charity in someone's name. There must. be. stuff. so I've learned to identify specific stuff |
| I got a new super warm coat so that I can socially distance with friends outside all winter. |

My list -
A new cookbook - DCUM recommends Milk Street Tuesday Nights A few new spoons for cooking - I do not know where they went - but we need them A new pillow I just got a new bathrobe from Frontgate - I love it! Throw blankets for the living room and a basket to store them in Games for family game night I have been doing puzzles during COVID - I provided specific links to ones I would be interested in "Tickets" to a streaming arts event |
I just gave a wearable sleeping blanket to my nephew! He loved it |
| A banging winter coat and comfy boots. |

Things on my list
Nice socks A couple of puzzles we can do together The next books in a few series I read Supplies for my hobby Books related to my hobby Things we got various adults in our family: Jars of fancy olives A nice bread knife and a bread delivery Beeswax lotion bars (these are great for helping with winter dry skin and hands that have been washed a million times) Books |
| You can still ask for an experience. It'll be cold but if you all are set with good quality winter wear, then ask for a family hike. Have some hot cocoa ready and some sandwiches etc. for a little picnic at the end. Or just a little experience in the backyard with the firepit (if you have, or that can be a gift) making smores and food delivery from a fancy place. |

I asked for houseware that we somewhat need, but it's not pressing. It's something that I would like, but also practical.
I'm usually not practical in my gifts, but I was coming up short on ideas this year. |
