I just cannot believe the judge is letting him around children at all so long as his blinkered wife is there. I give her some part of a pass because she grew up brainwashed in a cult, but can’t the judge see she’s not a good judge and that she can’t stand up to him?

I can’t help thinking about the OTHER wives. Imagine being young Claire Spivey, Justin’s wife. Married at 19! She might not be completely brainwashed. But imagine learning your husband’s brother is a psychopath. Does that not instill ANY fear in your heart about what you married into?

From the stories I’ve read, honestly, they married into the same family that they had growing up. There are so achingly many accounts of sexual abuse in these cults, accounts of parents, older siblings, religious leaders, cousins, aunts and uncles sexually abusing children and the children being made to apologize for allowing or inviting the “slip up.” I don’t think those of us outside the cult can fully understand what it’s like inside the cult.

But, here we go again, all of that is different than what Josh is accused of.

I don’t think these girls married for fame. I think they’re arranged marriages, which is sadder than marrying for fame.

The only truly genuine, adult relationship seems to be John David and Abbie, and I suspect they worked through the trauma of Josh’s molestation case. Which again makes me wonder, WTF are they thinking NOW?!

As far as I’m concerned, people that watched the show and followed along for years and now make statements about how “unsurprised” they are by the allegations are complicit. They essentially supported an abusive, dysfunctional, misogynistic cult.

And to JS’s point, we don’t know exactly what he downloaded, but it has been reported the ages of the victims and that it is some of the worst of the worst by an agent working the case.

I feel like this isn’t really appropriate for this specific forum.
Seems there is a deeper conversation that wants to be had about truth, and what we need for justice. What is too much?
How deeply do we need to stare into the abyss?
We are asking law enforcement to do that for us and they lose a piece of their souls every day.
And that could still only be a discussion in broad terms.
