I am based in dc and want to go see my elderly parents in two weeks. My dad falls in the high risk category.
Thoughts? |
I live in Milwaukee and a good friend of mine works in the medical field and said they (at her hospital) are predicting it to get bad here toward end of April. I’m unclear what they are basing that prediction on exactly. But we are not in a panic yet that’s for sure. But it wouldn’t be the destination I’d be most worried about anyway; it would be the airplane/airport which will have ppl from all over no matter where you are taking off from or landing... |
Of course not. Jesus. |
If your mom is over 60, so does she. Stay home. |
Why take the risk? |
How much of a risk really is it? You land with no symptoms, take a shower, and the fear is that you’ll spread it to your elderly parents when you’re asymptomatic? Aren’t you most contagious when you’re actually sick? |
Would you even be able to go? They are in lockdown. |
My daughter is at Marquette and came home Saturday morning for spring break. She said her MKE to DCA Southwest flight was totally full and MKE was at its usual level of business. I don’t think Milwaukee is having any issues yet...partly because it’s just not a place with a ton of travel in and out of (particularly international). But we’ll see. DD wants to be lazy and lounge around the house this whole week, which I think is probably a good choice... |
Perfect! |
Don't travel internationally. Good LORD |
Mask, gloves, eye protection, handwashing, hand sanitizing. Don't care who think I'm a freak. |
This is why I will not visit my parents in AZ. If either get this, they will die. End of. I am not going to be the one to give it to them. If I HAD to go, I'd drive staying as far south as possible. |
Same. They also said if he gats sick, they are not presently prepared to handle it, and we'd have to make due with hospitals. And though the number of kids with serious illness from the virus is lower than the elderly, there were still 1400 kids in China who were in the seriously ill category. Who wants to roll that dice with your child? |
Leaving the country to get to your own probably falls under "essential", no? |
So you get there, and the airlines are hit with massive sick outs. How do you get home? |
