Feedback on VLC Club Lacrosse?

The WSYL rules require a team to be under an existing program's name and rosters to be filled with kids within 100 miles of that program's central office.

By using VLC, Black Ops can reach into Richmond (as well as Baltimore) for talent but NL and DCE don't extend that far.

Umm, DC to Richmond is about the same mileage as Dulles to Richmond. And who thinks Richmond players are better than DC/Baltimore players anyway. VLC is running it because they will have more players on both rosters.

I'm sorry but this us 100% not true. I was part if this exercise from the beginning. VLC is not running Black Ops. You are not in the know.

Since you are in the know, who is the lead team? Is it named VLC because they drew straws?

Not a prior poster but I too heard that VLC needed to use their name because of some rule within the WSYL.

It’s just a name, the formation of the team continues to be an equal share and commitment by VLC DCE and NL! Nothing really more than that.

I hope that the poster who was involved in the exercise from the start comes back and shares the reason for including VLC in the name.

It's not equal to the families participating nor to the other teams looking at the team name. It can't be equal because someone has to make the final call. VLC is clearly in charge for some reason.

For some reason? Maybe it was VLC who took the lead and the other clubs agreed. It is fair. No one is forcing anyone to tryout.

100% fake news.

Pre-HS angst.

Is VLC still looking to add 2026s? I remember seeing a posting on FB about a supplemental tryout in the Fall. I know VLC was doing clinics. Is that still running?

I think they do random tryouts as part of a practice, so yes team always looking and can add anytime I think.

Check the social media page still open for last two winter sessions which are open to all players. Talk to coaches after. Maybe not right after but email after.

Btw, the best fogo in the 21' and 22' class are both from Richmond. Not a stick skill position. Weird coincidence?

Must be something in the water down there.

Two VLC coaches are filling in for O'Connell this year. I haven't seen any of those O'Connell kids on VLC. I always assumed VLC was mostly PVI kids. It seems like Ireton has done good job with Top Caliber in building up to respectability. I wonder if O'Connell can do same with VLC, which seems to be improving now that they finally started younger teams and are getting back to where they were 5 years ago.
