Nobody does in club soccer. Its because its SY not GY. |
Reread the question. So does your daughter have to compete with this older kid in their graduation year for college spots or not? |
I dont know what you're getting at. In BY players born Aug to Dec birthdays are generally in one grade while Jan to July are another grade. In SY most players will all be the same grade Aug birthdays will choose to play up if needed to be on the team with players their grade. College coaches recruit by graduating year aka grade in school. |
So your daughter will have to compete with this older kid in their graduation year for college spots. |
First, I'm not going to give any information about kids. But keep fishing. Second, your question doesn't make sense. Are you referring to right now BY or this fall SY? You're just so dumb it gets frustrating. Either way college coaches recruit by graduating year aka grade in school. |
It's hypocritical to expect youth soccer to protect your Sept girl from competition with an August girl who is a grade up (via rules or by your misleading Aug kids to volunteer to play up) and then turn around and expect youth soccer to protect your Sept girl from competition in her grade at showcases when she is in the last age group. Ironically, you are losing at every step. People here on the forum don't make rules, no need to get angry at posters. |
Reporting inside info is different than starting a rumor. Here is a copy and paste from a notice sent out by US Club. Well it’s a document a friend sent me but read the bottom pretty interesting…. 2026/2027 Age Grouping Rationale • Transitioning to an 8/1-7/31 age grouping is a return to the former grouping prior to 2017. Calendar birth year was mandated by US Soccer when most youth soccer was previously using school age. The mandate has been removed, allowing US Club Soccer member organizations the ability to group players as they see fit. The majority of youth soccer is non-competitive/recreational. The benefits of youth sport participation are numerous, but USYS/US Club team members feel that the social elements are some of the most important. • While using the calendar birth year age grouping we heard frequently from families asking for their children to play with their classmates. Using the school year grouping creates the fewest trapped players. US feels that school year grouping promotes stronger team chemistry and retention by allowing children to play with their schoolmates and closest friends. Grouping by school year often places players in a more consistent emotional and physical developmental environment. School age grouping will help college recruitment as it allows for players of the same graduating class participating together in high-level tournament cups and college showcase matches. |
All they're talking about is SY. In SY 11 months of players will all be the same graduating class (grade in school) and August birthdays will play up to be on the correct grade in school team. The end result is. "School age grouping will help college recruitment as it allows for players of the same graduating class participating together in high-level tournament cups and college showcase matches" Nothing about GY showcases. Its all in your head. |
The strawman youve created in your head is quite complex. I highly recommend you accept reality. Nobody is talking about GY showcases other than you. |
I haven't informed anyone about any rumors, showcases or otherwise on DCUM, ever. It's other people. Assuming they have all have agendas is a big unsubstantiated leap. |
I'm confused. But aren't you the one pushing for grade alignment? |
SY with August birthdays playing on the team thats their grade in school. Which is all 100% allowed under SY League rules. The oldest any player can be is born on 8/1 per year / level. End result is all players on the field are the same grade in school. GY is any player a certain grade in school can play on the team. This allows 36 month older 2x held back "Sophmores" as an example. The big difference is SY with Aug birthdays playing on their correct grade in school team is the most fair for the most players and it works well with p2p club processes. |
Sure, GY for August but not other months helps your Sept daughter whereas showcases going GY for olders doesn't. Funny how Aug weren't forced up based on grade and local clubs don't even allow choosing to play up. Your ruse was a failure. Stay tuned about showcases. |
There is no rouse. Aug birthdays playing on ther correct grade in school team is better for players snd clubs. |
Nah, only makes your Sept kid the oldest. Doesn't matter anyway, around here it's play on age, only the best get to play up. |
