PSA - your kid isn’t going back to school anytime soon

Anonymous
If you live in a city like DC and schools haven’t restarted, you should be aware that your child will likely not be going back to school until next year or the following. You will need to relocate to a place with open schools if you want any your child to attend school.

My kids are in FCPS but I’m already wondering when I should start “worrying” about next year. It was one thing for my 3rd and 6th graders to do online this year but I don’t think they can do it for another year. And, my kindergartner is doing K at a daycare this year but I don’t think they can offer a 1st grade there next year.

I recently brought this up to my husband but he said - no way will there be no school next year, but I am not so sure!

I disagree. They’ve got 11 months to roll out a vaccine. Military, healthcare workers and other essentials then teachers and high risk. It will be available to teachers next summer

And you have a crystal ball that can see into the future . . .

It’s completely insane to me that public school parents are still tolerating this. It’s like that old saying: when people tell you who you are, believe them. The failure of leadership told you everything you needed to know.

+1000.

Your kids will pay the price for this for years to come.

I agree OP. We’ve seen kids go back to school around the country in person and our kids are still at home.

Some will. Others will do just fine. I posted several months ago about being a war survivor and not having school for 4 years. I eventually caught up and went to college in a different country (the US).

Private here. We’ve been back in school and all is well!

Private school parents need to pipe down. It’s not the same at all.

This right here. The parents are going to have to demand better. At this point, I think there is a legal argument to be made concerning the misappropriation of tax money.

OP, what is your goal here?
You want people to move away (or go private) and then what? DC feels bad because it doesn't have enough kids?

That's what I'm wondering too. This post is totally pointless and not based on facts.

That’s funny I just dropped mine off for the start of week 6 in person school.
