PSA - your kid isn’t going back to school anytime soon

mind your own business - you aren't the source of all truth

The real PSA is that the schools should have opened first. That was the failure.

We need a government that prioritizes children, education and childcare.

Go back and read the first line of OP’s post. She’s not talking to you.

I don’t live in DC, but I live in “city like DC”, where public schools are 100% DL with no end in sight. I agree with you OP that they’re not going back anytime soon and I feel sick about it. For everyone saying they can’t believe public school parents are putting up with this, what exactly do you suggest we do?

Write letters, have protests, find people to run for the school board who are not intimidated by teacher’s union.

The horse is out of the barn. The situation is because of failure on the part of the president's administration. If you are angry at teachers unions then you are missing everything. It is like starving dogs fighting over table scraps. No one was left with a good choice because of all the choices made by the administration.

Brutal but true. But not just the current admin. Also, all the enablers and followers who refused to take comprehensive action early on.

And now back to the war on science in the US. The spread of the virus is not uniform over the US. It wasn't uniform in China or other countries either. That isn't how viruses work.

Agree, this is on their heads too.

I've been saying for awhile that public school kids won't be fully in person until 2023-23.

I am more of an optimist. I say opening of schools will occur in fall 2021.

Well either most people understand the science, value the lives of others and their kids are doing fine on DL

OR

People are upset enough to post obsessively on DCUM about how much they hate DL and how damaged their kids are, but not upset enough to protest which kind of undermines their whole argument.

Wouldn’t protesting negate their argument?

Bottom line: nothing is going to change until trump administration is history.

Except this has nothing to do with Trump. This is about teachers abdicating their civic duties. I'm a liberal democrat, but I'm sick of this nonsense.

+1 Same here - liberal who is now sick of this and re-thinking her up til now knee jerk support of teachers' unions.

It has everything to do with trump, starting with during the pandemic response team, moving in to the shit show of PPE and lack of guidance on masking and with them creating a whole pandemic response and then sidelining it because only blue states were having outbreaks.

Teachers want to be back at work. No teachers enjoy DL. Being mad at teachers unions is like telling at the grocery store clerk when your chip card doesn't work.

You being mad at the person at the end of the line helps nothing. Hold the anti maskers responsible. Hold the govt responsible for not getting schools upgraded with ventilation systems that won't spread the virus. You guys are mad at the wrong people.

You missed the point PP. If schools had opened first three would never have been as issue with the teachers. The fact that everything opened first shot the numbers up and schools were unable to open.

You think for one second that teachers prefer this DL crap?
