I think we had a good chance of flipping that one anyway, but that’s good news.

Good thread on Toomey here with links re who may run, including the current Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, State Treasurer and Representatives Conor Lamb and Chrissy Houlahan. I hope Brian Boyle considers it - he’s a North Philly congressman who’s the son of an immigrant SEPTA janitor and a crossing guard, who went to Notre Dame on a full scholarship and has a Masters in public policy from Harvard. And he has more experience in the house than most of the other PA Democrats.
On the R side, anti-Trumper former Rep. Charlie Dent is considering, but the PA GOP has gone crazy (similar to the VA GOP) so I don’t see him getting anywhere in a primary. Reps. Ryan Costello and Mike Kelly (see his recent entry in the GOP Corruption thread) are also possibles. https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/917054.page |
Agreed on Brendan Boyle* He is also from a super safe blue district so there is no risk in him running. He has a great story for sure. |
Toomeys retiring, Richard Burr is retiring, Grassley is more than likely going to retire as he nearly 90 and has hinted at retiring, and Ron Johnson promised to only serve two terms. Then throw in Rob Portman, the winner of the special election in Georgia, Marco Rubio, and a potential
primary from the right against Murkowski. It has the potential to be a great year for Senate Democrats. |
+1 and if McSally manages to win in Arizona she’ll have to run again as well. |
I trust Johnson as far as I can throw him. |
Really? Trump won PA in 2016 so there are obviously red voters there |
Biden is from Scranton. NE PA LOVES him. The Philly area loves him and the suburbs of Harrisburg and most of Pittsburgh will support him. Its mostly just the "Pennsyltucky" part of the state that supports Trump. Biden should win it by 5-7 points, as long as the GOP legislators don't interfere too egregiously. |
I think Murkowski is safe and she’s OK. My underdog predictions, Kansas doesn’t win seat this election, they will in 2022. Watch MO as well. |
Not sure who they are. Maybe western PA? |
There were in 2016 but many of them changed their minds by 2018. |
Murkowski def. put herself in the "at risk" category.
Frankly, assuming Biden wins (big assumption, but still) then as the Trump crimes come to light, the exposure of those in the Senate who enabled it will also have light shed on it. That isn't to say that they are all at risk, but as Rep. Schiff said, Trump is an iron chain that ties the albatross to everyone who supported him. |
