Thank you and wish my son got to play with you. Good luck in school. |
| Well....I have been coaching in the DMV for 20 plus...and I have nephews playing for GZ and SJC....so I know a bit, lol......but ok....I don't know anything. |
| The only student (high school or college) that posts on this site attends Yorktown. |
| Is there any thought that reclassing early is actually detrimental to development because kids are playing as bigger, stronger, and faster? Is the kid on class, who is maybe a little small, developing skills and toughness the reclass kids never will, and then is a stronger overall player when they all catch up on size in high school or college? Or is that silly and naive? |
You should look at the birthdays of the DC Dogs/Prep commits. At least a couple of 03s and a whole lot of 04. Does the IAC have same rule as MIAA re 8 semesters to play once you enter HS? Episcopal, Prep, and Landon have 23s in their 4th year of HS. Given the size of lax “scholarships,” that’s a crappy ROI. |
You are speculating DOB is not posted anywhere. |
| IAC players can not turn 19 prior to Sept 1 and players are allowed 4 years of participation starting in 9th grade. |
Part of your post is true, allow for me to correct it. The IAC does not permit kids who have turned 19 prior to September 1st to participate in HS athletics.... Bullis has a current junior who is 19 and is taking a gap year after this school year before he heads off to an Ivy League School. Regarding 4 years of participation, this is where things get very tricky in the IAC. The Maryland members of the IAC, Bullis, Prep, and Landon follow the Maryland code of HS Athletic standards that states players are only allowed 4 years of participation (it doesn't matter if you spend 2 seasons on JV and 2 on varsity) The VA members in the IAC, Saint Stephens and Episcopal, don't have to adhere to these rules. Hence if a kid transfers to EHS or Saint Stephens, and has already played 3 years of HS ball (whether it be a season on JV and 2 seasons on varsity), they can re-classify and not be forced to sit out a season, thus play 5 years of HS athletics. EHS has been doing this for years in several sports and Saint Stephens has been doing it for hoops and lacrosse most recently. |
OK. Prep and Landon have "23s" that played HS in 18-19. So does Episcopal (kid transferred from SSSAS). All committed so I guess the MD kids out a year. Good players but I don't think they change the balance of the league. People love the Prep kid on his 3rd IAC school but they were likely best IAC team with or without him. Landon kid has not been a contributor and won't help them beat Prep. It seems like a bigger deal to who gets playing time on a given roster. So a Prep kid may be mad because the EHS transfer took his spot, but the IAC league competition is otherwise unchanged. This may be a more sensitive issue too because Covid has screwed with recruiting and reduced the number of available spots. |
The Bullis player is not currently 19 and will not turn 19 until after Sep 2022. The IAC only allows 4 years of competition in the IAC. |
EHS did not play any lacrosse games in 2020. The SSSAS to EHS transfer and the Landon to EHS to GP transfer both will be in their third season of lacrosse competition this spring, and should be eligible next year. |
| Why do you care? What does it matter? Don’t you have more important things to worry about? |
| Nope. Nobody who posts here does. Why would you not want to come in here and flex about the HS you either went to or your kid goes to.....dump on all other schools....troll for Yorktown....and insult the knowledge and acumen of lacrosse of others.....I mean....come on.....its why we all are on here |
what about DC schools? |
| What if you play in DC at like SJ and want to transfer to one of the VA privates like PVI or EHS? |
