So just to recap, we have gone from debating the upcoming season of local high school lax to trying to find loopholes in the system to squeeze out an extra year of eligibility. WTF. |
You will be okay at episcopal, but PVI is in the WCAC so they may have different rules. |
Squeeze? No, some kids may need another year of school for what ever reason. You seem to be hating because they are looking for the right fit. |
It's real simple, if your son wants to have an additional year of HS lacrosse eligibility, transfer across the river to either Episcopal or Saint Stephens, reclassify if you have the money, no questions asked, and he will be allowed to play. The IAC is a very loosely affiliated conference. The WCAC actually has a league commissioner who from time to time enforces rules, the WCAC does indeed have an intra-league transfer rule in effect, unlike the IAC. |
Transfer to yorktown |
| If you transfer between WCAC schools you can’t play the transfer year. Rule is to prevent formation of super teams. |
Not true. You get one free transfer. No Senior transfers allowed. |
I realize certain kids need to transfer if a school isn’t a fit. But it seems like a previous posted was mostly talking about transferring to get a 5th year of high school eligibility. That has nothing to do with ‘fit’ of their previous school. |
|
the IAC will make history this spring with a player now who has played lacrosse at 3 different HS in the league.
Despite what people say about the WCAC, while it's not perfect, the league does try to enforce rules. |
| I get the optics of the problem on three IAC schools in 3 years but doesn't at least some portion of the blame rest with the schools too? |
|
I think too many people are making too big a deal out of families’ personal decisions for their kids, whether it is holding back or transferring.
Specific to the transferring, I just don’t see it as so nefarious as implied on this board. I have witnessed the conversations at the club level. These kids play together all summer and fall and they try to convince their better club teammates to transfer to their high schools. Kids from all local schools make the pitch. Every once in a while a kid pursues a better opportunity for himself. So what? |

Prep Landon/Gonzaga Bullis SSAS PVI |
|
Bullis will be better than Landon and Gonzaga for sure.
I also wouldn't crown the Lil Hoyas the champs yet in the IAC - they graduated a shit ton from last season. Their junior class is impressive but is filled with a disproportionate number of re-class kids. Half of them could easily be seniors. |
Attention Gonzaga dad! If you think you are = or above Landon just list your team above Landon. In reality you really should not list your team above PVI. Don’t worry the season will start soon enough. Personally I have Yorktown on that list. |
What does that have to do with anything? |
