How much of a difference will a reorg make unless they’re actually physically moving people around? So far all the talk seems mainly aimed at making things look flatter on paper.

The plan was due to OMB like 6 weeks ago.

How embarrassing — can’t even get the name of one of the major divisions right. Shows how serious and well thought out it is.

Btw, this is almost verbatim from project 2025.

So you’d scatter your days on Monday and then Thursday the next week, as an example.

That would really surprise me. We’ve been told ad hoc really has to be ad hoc. Now, maybe if you just happen to have two medical appointments in one week, fine. But if you have appointments every week, you will need to figure something else out.

So how much longer is everyone giving it before walking away - without a job?

That’s not an option for me. I imagine it isn’t an option for most people. Some could maybe do it and assume they’d find something in near term. But I wouldn’t take that risk.

That's insane. Nobody who needs to work for a living is quitting over something like this.

It's impossible to get a job these days and you should assume that if you quit you'll never work another day in your life--even if you wanted to.

I don’t even get the sense that all that many people are looking, but very few will quit without something lined up.

How are single parents, or households where both parents work in office handling it? There are so many random gaps in childcare between school ending and summer vacations. Getting ad hoc is becoming such a pain, but I would burn through leave so fast otherwise. What about people with kids in various therapies, like speech or OT? How is it doable? Before all the trolls comment, this is more rigid than any job I have ever had and it is not normal at all compared to private white collar work.

not going to happen here, and i don't really see any of my teammates leaving willingly in the next couple years. no one is eligible for VERA yet, and the private sector isn't any more stable right now.

I hate these types of posts. It makes employees look bad. You should have always had childcare - TW or not!

Hire a summer sitter, camps, grandparents visit, go PT, use leave etc.

Ignore the troll. Kids can entertain themselves while an adult sits at home. It’s dumb to be forced to take leave just to sit around while your kid plays independently or watches tv.

I am scared of what will happen to parents too OP. It’s a disgrace.
