Herndon club

Our TM said yesterday that they were switching to VEOs from Hudl and that every team would be getting a Veo camera.

Not a Herndon parent, but had an away game there at Arrowhead this weekend. I thought they were whingers but oh no. Beautiful park completely ruined by boorish locals! Ref was on crowd control like a bouncer all game, and pickup games shouldn't be allowed adjacent to the field when league games are on.

The county needs to send out employee to supervise access to this field.

Here's the thing, if multiple people who willingly sign their kids up to play sports in Herndon are complaining about chaos and safety at the practice fields, you know its gotta be real bad.

There is a certain level of pickup player hassle Herndon people tolerate.

Since there is a Herndon thread anyway- we played their girls team this weekend and their uniforms said Sterling on them. Did those two clubs merge?

I don't remember playing them last year. Did they even have girls teams last year?

I don't want to be unkind but anyone who knows girls soccer would know ahead of time that this Sterling/Herndon team will not be competitive in this league.

It seems kind of nasty to knowingly enter teams into a league where they will lose badly every game. Are they required to enter teams for boys and girls at every birth year to stay in RL?

Was that one of the teams without enough players?

no, they seemed to have a normal roster size.

It is a nice park. There are lower income apartments right next it. I hate to say it but I don’t think that’s a coincidence. I have heard about safety issues at those apartments. The whole development was the brainchild of the county, so I agree that they should now be proactive in addressing a problem they had a part in creating.

I don't think they had girls teams last year. if they did, dds teams didn't play them.

When my kid practiced there last year for ACM (we switched clubs in part because that field just felt unsafe + of course the club fell apart!), the field would be covered in trash before the practices. The kids had to pick up trash before practicing. I mean covered in trash-like dozens of plastic bottles, food wrappers, etc.

I think Herndon and Sterling announced a merger for the older girls age groups. It was the only way they’d have enough for RL teams. And I agree that it’s hard on those girls because they are not at that level.

I am curious about your last question too. If the league requires girls and boys teams at all age groups I don’t see how Herndon can stay in RL when they do not even have girls teams at some of the younger age groups. Which would be a real shame for the boys.

I don’t understand how a club could let its girls side just fall apart like that… unless they never really had much of a girls side to begin with? And are leagues just recently starting to require teams for both boys and girls at all age groups?

Was at bready park yesterday. After a rec game kid was just riding an electric scooter all over the field. We can't have nice things because people suck.

This is an issue at Hutchinson as well. Trash everywhere. Isn't the county in charge of keeping fields clean? There shouldn't be buckets full of trash when kids show up to practice.

My daughter plays on the 07/08 team and we started the game with only 10 players. One of our girls got hurt right before halftime and we had to play the second half with only 9.

bready park is the only field herndon uses for travel practices that is relatively under control. imagine what the other fields are like.
