I first read that as liberal coastal elites and was like why would DCUM disparage own their kind?!! ![]() |
+1 I (a woman in my mid-30s) am not a big fan of Harris, but if my choices are Harris or Vance, no way am I voting for Vance. It was unrealistic to think that the GOP would try to moderate the ticket with a VP I could have potentially stomached, given who they have at the top of the ticket, but it was nice to think maybe it could have happened. |
Then throw in they are Ivy Leaguers and that he said in his book people are lazy. |
They are just that cocky F them |
The genius of this pick is that the white supremacists will come out of their caves to attack Vance’s wife, and then Trump can tack to the center by attacking fringe actors like Ann Coulter, Nick Fuentes, and other literal racists who are gonna be pissed that a Hindu woman is potentially going to be First Lady.
The white liberal women activists in here still don’t get that vibes and optics far more that policy, and Vance and his cute Indian wife and their cute biracial kids are gonna be a huge boon for the campaign in the multiracial suburbs of DC, NY, Philly, etc. Think about how many votes having an actual Hindu woman on the ticket gets in places like Jackson Heights or how having just a brown woman who’s a daughter of immigrants plays with POC women who aren’t Black. You can’t privilege identity politics on one hand and then act like her identity isn’t going to matter to some voters in November. In those swing states with multiracial suburban populations this will get you some numbers if played right. |
So you think JD Vance's wife being Indian will matter more than Kamala Harris being Indian? How do you think women in the suburbs will feel about him saying there should be no rape or incest exceptions for abortion bans? Who cares, he has a cute family and went to Yale? |
There isn’t a Hindu woman on the ticket you dolt. Someone on the ticket is married to a hindu woman. Let me guess you think your husband’s accomplishments are yours because you clearly are not smart enough to have your own if you think one guy having cute kids will get the ticket to win in areas it otherwise wouldn’t. |
billionaire lapdog is not a billionaire |
She is Hindu and is a practicing Hindu. She doesn’t identify as anything but Indian. And yes, the average person doesn’t care that much about policy and privileges optics and vibes. How do you think Bush beat Gore, Reagan won almost every state in 1984, etc? That wasn’t policy, that was “I like this person” and that alone. |
You severely overestimate the intellect of people, and American voters specifically, if you think this is the case. We live in a democracy and most people are stupid. Full stop. Trump got elected. Do you need any more proof than that? |
Ivy League alumni who pose as anti-elite, anti-establishment, anti-intellectual, anti-expertise populists while primarily representing the interests of billionaire capitalist sociopaths are a plague that has taken over the Republican Party. Vance is phonier than Trump or Cruz or Cotton or Alito, if that is possible. It’s all a con. They jump in front of the 200+ year old nativist and bigoted and ignorant right-wing movement and appoint themselves its leaders while turning it into a vehicle for yet more tax breaks and deregulation for the capitalist establishment. |
Yes, and then people saw exactly what kind of dangerous moron he was and voted him out. |
Now explain the Reagan landslide in 1984 and special needs case George Bush winning two terms. People are dumb and care about “who to get a beer with” and “do I relate to / look like this person” more than policy, especially in the social media age. |
I have voted Dem for 4 decades and am teetering toward Trump, in part because of his genius choice of Vance. I’ve taken the time to study his positions, sans the MSM bias. |
