Airplane noise concerns overblown?

I don't live along MacArthur but i spent eight years of my life going to school in the Palisades. It's pretty brutal. Depending on where you were in the school buildings, class would come to a dead halt at least three or four times every forty five minutes.

But that only applies to the areas under the LAX flight path, not anywhere in DCA as real estate agents would like you to think. You’ll get used to the noise and there’s nothing to see in the Palisades. Pay premium to live under the flight path, or you are a hypersensitive lone crazy.

This is a correlation, not a cause.

Sure, tell that to your doctor, what else is there to say?! The science that this is really bad for you is unimpeachable as much as you might try to deny it.

In fact airplanes can stay over them almost the entire time from Seneca to Glen echo in Montgomery county. Has this idea been considered?

Just discovered that the idea was considered by the FAA.

And what happened?

This week has been terrible in the Palisades. Even worse than usual

Does anybody have any further updates on the proposal of the DCA Community Working Group to shift the flight path for departing airplanes farther south to Mount Vernon?

The correlation is not even statistically significant. The 95% confidence interval includes an odds ratio of 1, which would mean no impact.

Is this about the study available on NIH about the risk of malignant brain tumors increasing if you choose to live under a flight path?

“Malignant brain cancer risk in all subjects combined increased 12% (95% CI 0.98–1.27) per interquartile range (IQR) of airport-related UFP exposure (~6700 particles per cm3) for subjects with any address in the grid area surrounding the LAX airport.”

A 95% confidence interval of 0.98–1.27 means that there is a 95% chance that the true population parameter (like a mean, proportion, or risk) falls within that range.

In conclusion, you do you. But hell no. Not worth the risk. No idea how you could even consider buying a house under a flight path unless someone tricked you. (like a slick Palisades real estate agent telling you to relax and have a drink and you’ll get used to it)

Why is it so loud today? It’s that bad on a sunny day.

“Cognitive defect that makes you aware of airplanes”. OP you’re an , but useful since the truth will out, and oh boy did it.

I see the poster from the first 30 pages is still active. Have a nice life!

LOL

You are right! The poster from the first 30 pages is now trying to create a lot of noise and is posting ton of garbage to discourage people from reading this thread. I wonder if they are from the Community Working Group at DCA.

You had better contact your representatives on the DCA Noise Working Group. There will be community meetings over the next two months. When airplanes take off to the south, they turn east over Groveton and Huntly Meadows. The Working Group wants to push the FAA to extend the flight path further south.

Look at the slides that show "south flow".
