No, if you back, the above pp was responding to the claim that Asians don’t work hard enough in areas that matter- basically that they just study. Then you laughed at the reference to varsity athletes and I was pointing out there are nationally ranked asian athletes. There was never any statement made that these students were not recruited and accepted. |
LOL again. You have a nationally ranked athlete that was NOT recruited for their sport. What even is that? |
Is race included in the application, or is it stripped out? I suspect the admissions people know the quotas they want and rate Asians down consciously. |
I give up. Can’t continue with someone with low reading comprehension |
I'm wondering why Harvard is rejecting the other 44%? |
A restaurant bill is $120. What is the total after 5% sales tax and 18% tip? Blacks don't have money to go to restaurants, and would not be aware of tipping, and whether the tip applies after the sales tax or before. |
It's not supposed to add up to 100%. It is the chance of admission of each group, not the percent of the admitted that are that race. |
They are not picking white or Asian kids 300 points lower from a flyover state. |
Yes there is. There are studies, and have been for decades, that SAT does not correlate with performance in college. This has been used by many to say 'SAT doesn't matter.' However, the study was showing small differences don't matter, but 1200 vs 1400 or 800 vs 1200 matters quite a bit. I don't know what the cutoffs would be, particularly with the changes. The study I saw was before they recentered, and I think made 1600 available for less than a perfect score, and they changed it from an aptitude test to an achievement test. |
They certainly are for some kids from Wyoming/Montana/etc. |
Are you being serious? Because I go to restaurants pretty frequently and I routinely see black people dining in them. |
Wyoming has one of the best school systems in the country |
You really shouldn't engage with race-baiting trolls. It only encourages them. |
dp.. that was sarcasm, PP. People who are saying that the SAT is racist are being ridiculous, and using the ^^ as an example of how ridiculous that assertion is. How can a math problem be racist? And if someone brings up the stupid "regata" example, I'll just remind that person that a lot of Asian Americans and white people also wouldn't know what that is. I sure didn't when I took the SAT in the 80s. |
OK. The academic performance of kids from Wyoming/Montana/Alaska/etc was definitely lower than the average at my elite university. They were all great people and were able to do the work (AKA they were "qualified"), but they didn't perform as well as most others. |
