Dog haters and germaphobes

What do you think of someone who hates dogs and is also a germaphobe, and also dislikes nature?
I feel like those Traits tend to circle around other traits like very conservative views and lack of open-mindedness.

I’m fairly liberal, have a diverse social circle, very well-traveled and with a work history in the developing world so not a germaphobe. I still don’t want your dog jumping on me or licking me if I’m at your house or we are in a public place. And your dog is not welcome in my home or car at all. And I won’t patronize restaurants and stores that have non-service dogs around food.

Ha nope. I also have a diverse social circle (economically and racially), am not even white, have traveled, speak multiple languages etc and all else that seem to indicate to you 'open minded'.

I actually even like dogs- grew up with them.

This area, however has terrible pet owners. I get incredibly annoyed when I see all the dogs running free on hiking trails etc. Leash your dog! Even people who like dogs do not want strange dogs running up to them! I have also seen several close encounters where the dog was growling or even chasing people just trying to take a walk on a public path or trail.

Inconsiderate people like this blow my mind. There is a leash law. Obey it.

No, Sara, I don’t want to hike with you and Rufus this Saturday because you don’t keep him leashed and he is so poorly trained that people are frightened and angry when they should be enjoying the great outdoors.

Not remotely a germaphobe. I never use hand sanitizer, go to the gym, and only wash my hands after using the bathroom or when preparing food.

There are some great dog owners, but there are SO MANY completely inconsiderate dog owners in this area. People who let their dogs off leash, use stupid clothesline "retractable leashes," or bring their "emotional support dogs" everywhere. I don't necessarily hate dogs, truthfully. I do, however, hate selfish, inconsiderate dog owners.

Germaphobe dog hater here. Train it to stay by your side and out of my crotch and we won’t have any problems.

OP here. I don’t own a dog but generally like most dogs. And agree with all sentiments that dogs should be trained and taught not to jump, etc.

Maybe it is less conservativeness that I am picking up on, and more just ANXIETY. Anxiety over germs, the unpredictable, “bad people”

To those to qualities I would also add people, who at a gathering where food is served, want to know the ingredients in every single dish or who refuse food made in other homes.

What in the world. Pretty much all the conservatives I know are extremely outdoorsy, have dogs, and definitely not germaphobes. Seems like you are confused about open-mindedness.

We are very liberal but grew up in countries where dogs are kept outdoors and might be used to guard a warehouse but they are not family members or furry friends. We keep our house very clean, don't wear shoes in the house etc
And don't like dirty animals in the home.

I am liberal and social and actually even love plenty if well-behaved dogs if I get to meet them in a safe way (leashed, owner in control, not a surprise to me).

But a dog attacked me when I was in college and it made me skittish around them. I really do not like when dogs jump up on me, especially large dogs. And I get very nervous when people don’t leash their dogs in public spaces or allow them to get really aggressive with people (I am including running up and sniffing people in “aggressive”, even if you think the dog is being friendly, because if it’s not my dog I can’t know).

Also not a germaphobe, but do like hygiene!

I don’t lump travel in with the other traits. Actually maybe the type of travel you do. Do you always stay in resorts or traditional hotels?

I mean, this is generally me, and I *am* a germaphobe...but, I love dogs and animals! People are nasty, though. 😆😆

It’s stupid to travel shame. You aren’t a better traveler because you stay in hostels. 🙄 🙄
