Dog haters and germaphobes

I'm liberal and was never a germaphobe until I had kids (thanks, PPA that never went away!). I've never had a dog so while I don't hate them I don't love them either (though I do support animal rescues). And I don't really want them jumping on me or licking me or getting their fur all over me.

Apparently OP wasn’t talking about political conservatives. She was talking about “prudes”. You know, because of the relation between being shy about sexuality and hating dogs.

I don't agree.

I like nature -- hikes, outdoor space, being outside, walks -- but I don't really like camping.

I don't know that I am a germaphobe, but I m hygienic and will definitely move away if you are sneezing around me. I notice when people don't wash hands, etc... and it bothers me, but I don't like, wipe down my car interior every day or anything.

Dogs -- I like a cute dog but am not a dog person. I really detest when dogs jump on me or lick me. It's gross and a violation of my personal space and it sucks. Sucks sucks sucks.

Liberal as they come.

I think I probably have a few friends who think I hate dogs because I step back or grimace when their dogs jump on me. I don't hate them. I just don't want them jumping on me.

I wore a new sweater with a chunky knit to my friend's yard this week and I didn't even think about it -- it's a sweater. Their dog immediately jumped on me and snagged the f out of it. Super annoying.

But a dog attacked me when I was in college and it made me skittish around them. I really do not like when dogs jump up on me, especially large dogs. And I get very nervous when people don’t leash their dogs in public spaces or allow them to get really aggressive with people (I am including running up and sniffing people in “aggressive”, even if you think the dog is being friendly, because if it’s not my dog I can’t know).

Also not a germaphobe, but do like hygiene!

Same here!
I got bitten by a dog, out of the blue, as a teen, had to go through a lot of grief (barely avoided 30 shots in the stomach, or whatever other torturous treatments they had for potential rabies) and I dislike dogs. Has nothing to do with my politics or hygiene habits.

Yeah. I was thinking the same thing. Read the whole thread. OP was just trying to stoke the fire with this thread.

Ex-liberal, now conservative here. I like dogs IF they don't jump on me, don't bark at me. Otherwise, no. Oh, they also smell, so please bathe them.

Totally agree! I am super liberal + hate dogs. Spend your time on people + not pets.

I feel like those Traits tend to circle around other traits like very conservative views and lack of open-mindedness.

If this is how you form conclusions, then you’re pretty Stupid.

Conservatives are more like dogs, and they tend to have dogs as pets. Liberals have cats.

I like trained dogs.

This morning my friend's dog jumped on me as i walking down her stairs and knocked me over, so I fell down the rest of the stairs. I hate that particular dog.

I would stay there's a correlation between people who bring their dogs in stores and walk them on long retractable leashes, and don't move to the side when they see another person, and strong narcissistic tendencies.
