| I just started running this summer and I’m really loving it. Heat and humidity don’t bother me but I don’t want to get derailed when it gets cooler, also don’t want to spend a ton of money. Suggestions? |

I used to be afraid of running in cold weather, but its not too bad with the right layers. What I wear:
- tight fitting long sleeve tech shirt (like one you get in a race). Any tight fighting moisture wicking shirt would be fine though. - Fitted zip up athletic jacket over top - long running tights - running gloves with touchscreen fingers - fleece ear band With this I am able to run in 30 degree temps and totally comfortable. Even if I am a little cold in the beginning of the run, I am warm by the end of the first mile. If its over 40 degrees, I can usually wear a short sleeve shirt under the jacket and go without the ear band and/or the gloves. I also considered a neck gaiter but I find my neck and chest get warm when I run so I don't need it, but I will probably get one this winter since it can double as a mask. |

Target C9 brand is decent for the price. I look for quality brands on sale at REI often.
Good rule of thumb is to pretend it's 20 warmer and dress for that for your run. |
Yes, this. You’ll be fine in shorts/short sleeves for at least another 1-2 months. When it gets into the 40s, I’ll do tights plus single layer long sleeve top. I don’t break out the gloves/hat/thermal jacket until we hit low 30s. And I have a pair of fleece lined tights, but I only wear those when it’s in the 20s. |
| I love running in the cold! My "go to" pieces of gear for the winter are a decent pair of running tights (I prefer Athleta and Oiselle), a performance wool base layer long sleeve (Oiselle or Smart Wool) and a vest. I also like a decent pair of running gloves and a headband that covers the ears. The wool is great because its not heavy yet its warm enough and it helps with the wind, same with a vest. |
| Something with pockets because by mid run I'm taking things off like gloves and hat because I'm hot so having pockets to put those things in helps. |
Ditto! Capri tights get me right through the 40s. Long tights for the 30s. I'll go in the upper 20s, but that's about it. I tend to run hot, so I rarely wear a hat, though sometimes I'll wear a fleece headband over my ears. |

I like Craft gear for running in cool weather.

I'm the quoted PP. I also like tees and arm warmers. 1 - you get some air flow and 2- you can take them off if you get warm. Like a few of you, I wear capris into 40s and high 30s. I only go to 2 layers on top when it's in the 30s. I do get warm easily, but it does take a few minutes. Definitely get a fleece ear band and gloves (I have reynauds). |

I actually prefer to run in colder temps, though I draw the line when it gets under 30 degrees. I wear an Under Armour coldgear fitted shirt like this one and a fleece-lined zipper jacket over it. If I get hot in the middle of my run, I just take off the jacket and tie it around my waist. For pants, I wear regular workout leggings unless it's under 40 degrees, and then I wear fleece-lined leggings (I like these: https://www.amazon.com/90-Degree-Reflex-Fleece-Leggings/dp/B016XKDUP2).
I also wear a fleece ear headband and running gloves. |

A good, lightweight running jacket is essential. Make sure it has reflective surfaces because its going to start getting darker earlier and earlier. no hood, zippered pockets or one zippered pocket, thumb holes in the sleeves, and a long tail.
Brooks, new balance and athleta are my favorite running brands. I would start by looking on poshmark. There is a lot of gently used stuff that is really high quality at a fraction of the retail price. Especially if you are just starting out. |
| I don’t wear tights until it’s in the mid 50’s. Colorfulkoala on Amazon makes 7/8 length with pockets that hold my phone securely. About $30 now but goes on sale sometimes. I have a couple pairs of Lululemon and these are just as good. On top, I’ll wear a long-sleeve tech shirt (not until the 50’s) and just bought a Lulu Define jacket for when it’s cooler. If it’s under 20 degrees, I’ll wear a wind proof goretex pants and maybe a goretex hard shell. If it’s that cold, I also run inside on my tread. |
| Love running in the cold. Don’t get scared—there’s no bad weather only bad preparation! Honestly I wear shorts until the mid 40s or if it is really windy. Sometimes shorts with knee length socks. I like a long sleeve wool base layer like a PP. Wool socks (I use wool socks year round). Patagonia Houdini pullover for wind. Wear reflective gear/lights once it gets dark out. I know I look like a dork in my safety vest but I’m amazed that people don’t wear them. |
