Mayor Bowser and renaming or removing monuments

Anonymous
So apparently a report was recently issued by a working group set up by the Mayor to rename or remove monuments. It appears to include the Washington and Jefferson memorials. If this isn’t some joke from The Onion could someone discuss if this is real?

The committee issued recommendations that Bowser does not have to accept. The recommendations are not always to move or rename. In some cases it is just to contextualize.

Last time Bowser allowed mob rule to deface the Kościuszo monument, simply because it was some old white dude. The irony is that Kościuszko helped fight for US independence and was an abolitionist. Just goes to show you how dumb DC is. I wouldn't expect Bowser to any sane rationale after allowing the Kościuszko monument to be defaced. She's part of the mob mentality.

So what ended up happening to that monument? I think they could take down the Washington and Jefferson memorials and move them To a field in Pennsylvania or West Virginia maybe. Where they will be revered.

If it’s a public report, someone should be able to link to it here and quote the relevant sections.

Absent evidence we can assume the “They want to rename the Washington Monument!” people are just trolls.

So it’s so radical that only a troll could come up with this stuff?

Hope that this doesn't get leaked too bad. It'll radically hurt the Democrats and their election chances.

Does the Mayor realize that these are Federal? Does she even understand how DC is organized? Has she ever read the constitution?

Where’s the part that says DC/Bowser is trying to remove the Washington Monument?

It’s definitely gotten out- a relative sent me a link to it from Fox News. I don’t think proposals like this do the Democrats any favors for November.

I’m really not worried about what someone’s RWNJ uncle from Tennessee thinks about DC. This is a local issue. It’s time to rename these monuments after people who DIDN’T own other human beings.

We are seeing the natural conclusion of generations of "diversity for diversity's sake." For years now we have promoted/elected people not on their abilities but because of their race. To quote Cool Hand Luke, 'so, you get what we have here."

Bowser is too stupid to be hired for even the most basic, entry level Federal job, and yet she is now making decisions that will impact the region for decades to come.

Lol. No. This isn't a "local" issue. DC is the Nation's capital. The "uncle form Tennessee" has as much right to what is placed here as anyone. Idiots like you need to wake up. November cannot get here soon enough.

She just removed the federal page.

Can anyone tell me about Alexander Graham Bell’s inclusion?

I'm not sure what the committee's issue was but my deaf & hard of hearing friends have shown me some of the cruel and continuing impacts he had on their community. I think that his removal as a hero, or, at a minimum, context is a great idea.
