My kids are going back 5 days a week in person next week. AMA!

Our district (midwest) gave option of 5 days virtual or 5 days full in person. No hybrid.

What's the current Covid status in your state? My entire state has about 220 active cases and has not had a spike since June. At best, districts are going back 2 days in person with crazy restrictions. My county has 25 active cases and still kids aren't going back full time.

Also, what do the days look like? Our district is either 2 days full time or DL. The in school kids only leave their classroom for 30 min of recess. Lunch etc is in the classroom. And a lot is done via Chromebook to prevent closeness and sharing of stuff.

We are homeschooling

9,000 kids in Florida have tested positive in 15 days if school being open.
Hard pass for me

The Midwest is going to be snowed in and on-fire by November. Enjoy turkeys and funerals.

We are starting next week also, in the Midwest too. Small private school, so no bus issues and a lot of available space for distancing.

Students are being divided into pods of ten or less, with only one pod in a classroom at any given time. Lunch will be eaten outdoors, with a shelter for rainy days. A significant amount of instruction will occur outdoors as well. Masks will be worn by everyone except the two year olds who are totally separate from everyone anyway.

How confident are you that your district is opening because they believe it’s safe and not because of political pressure? Why do you feel this way?

How confident are you, PP, that your kids' school isn't closed because of political pressure?

I'm more interested in asking you questions AFTER your child goes back to school, when everything is less rosy and optimistic.

Hm. I don't think that OP is familiar with the procedure on an AMA thread. We ask you anything, then you respond and answer.

So schools out forever? Just for another year? Do you think education should be optional?

What state? Do you know about how many teachers/students opted out for the year? How did your district and school board logistically deal with any staffing shortages?

What is the policy if there are positive cases? Will they quarantine the teachers?

Meh. Come back in 2 weeks when they've been forced to go online again.
