A private school with two year olds?

A lot of private schools have preschools, and quite a few in our area have toddler classes starting at age 2 or 18 months.

My 3 kids started yesterday, parochial school in New England. Two were overjoyed.

Teachers and students must quarantine for 14 if they test positive

How you could possibly trust that students are going to do that? Parents send their kids to school sick all the time pre-covid.

Responsible community.

Yeah okay. Good luck with that.

Also, what do the days look like? Our district is either 2 days full time or DL. The in school kids only leave their classroom for 30 min of recess. Lunch etc is in the classroom. And a lot is done via Chromebook to prevent closeness and sharing of stuff.

We are homeschooling

we have about 500 new cases per day in the state, although fewer in our area. there are about 20 kids per class so days look pretty similar to what they do in normal times. lunch periods are spread out is the main difference, plus masks, no sharing of supplies, etc.

No question, just wanted to say how envious I am.

+1. I am so mad I did not try and enroll my child in a private school. I should have realized that the districts here are all full of empty promises.

We're in western MD and our kids start next week (private school). Masks required and lots of protocols in place, including plexiglass barriers on each desk, but our kids are super-excited to go. Our county's health officer has approved their plans.

OP here, yes I followed very closely as the plan was being formulated (listening in to school board meetings, etc.) and they were working very closely with both state health department and local and the plan was approved. I think that was a requirement, actually.

But what if that rate doubles?

Yeah, I'm really glad and so grateful our district is giving us a choice and letting us choose the option that works best for our families and situations.

Actually I misspoke. 0% of deaths occurred in individuals under 20, not 19.

Anonymous wrote:What state? Do you know about how many teachers/students opted out for the year? How did your district and school board logistically deal with any staffing shortages?

Wisconsin
About 85% of district families opted for in person per our building principal
No staffing shortages

That’s great that there were no staffing issues. It sounded like here, half the teachers were willing to quit instead of teach in the schools. Is your teacher pay pretty high? Do the students who chose virtual get teachers from your local school system, or from an online charter school?
