It's the tone deafness of it all. Half the people probably don't know what the heck a crudite is. Of the other half, there are probably a significant number that don't know that's how it's pronounced. Never mind that it's just a veggie tray, and what he bought makes absolutely no sense in the context of someone putting together a veggie tray.

Isn't a crudite a kind of horse devorse?

Ummm he has mostly lived in NJ and Fetterman is using tons of FAMOUS NJ (not Turkish) people to point that out so you’re seeing what you want

I’m mostly seeing another privileged, under-achieving white male taking a position of power in a state that is diverse enough to have plenty of other options. Obviously, TV personalities don’t need to be in the Senate. It’s incredible, though, that the Democratic base is about 25% white male, but white male candidates are still 2/3rds to 3/4ths of the candidates.

Yes, and also, in general, people in the US tend to use French words in when they are trying to be fancy and sophisticated. When I planned my wedding, the caterer offered "crudité" for the cocktail hour. Otherwise, it's not a word I see or hear much. Having a party at the country club, inviting the CEOs and their spouses over for dinner, or going out to someone's house in the Hamptons? Then, sure, use the word crudité. Otherwise, if you're eating at home, having your friends over for dinner, or going to the neighborhood block party, it's a vegetable tray. And as a native Pennsylvanian, I think I can say, frankly, that unless you're from the Main Line or Society Hill or the Pittsburgh equivalent, most Pennsylvanians would say, "WTF is he talking about?" even if they know what the word means. Because no one talks like that.

There was more important stupidity than using that word:

He misstated the store's name - so he probably knows Wegmans and mixed up!
He bought some weird combinations of vegetables, quantities, and condiments for the vegetable tray - probably has clue.
Who drinks toquilla with vegetables?
He did not have a cart or basket - so this was a stunt.

Stupid ad stunt by an out-of-touch millionaire!

Yeah, so many questions! Why did his staff not correct his incorrect name of the store? Was he drinking toquilla because he was having salsa and guacamole, and he thought he'd go with a Mexican theme? Why such a huge bag of carrots? Why didn't he have one of those little red hand baskets? Did he really buy those items or did he put them back after he made the video?

I agree that Pennsylvania seems allergic to electing women statewide but these are the choices at hand today.

I knew next to nothing about Oz, but I did know that he lived in NJ, because my brother does as well, and it had come up in conversation that Oz lived in a very affluent part of Jersey. His connection to PA is about as his connection to reality.

I grew up in midwest rust belt just barely above the poverty line. I knew what it was.

They were tied in a different poll last week. Florida is Florida, but it could be a nail-biter of an election...
