People are getting disappeared every day. Or shot in the face on the street.

Very sadly, his body has been found in a pond not far from his home.

It was also clear that they were looking at suicide there from the jump. Not the same.

And yet what? I got a breaking news alert about this too.

Still praying for a good outcome.

ABC News spent 8 minutes on this tonight. Which is wildly out of proportion to its actual importance or news value.

“News value”? How quaint.

Yes news value is rooted in what the audience wants to see - the old ‘if it bleeds it leads.’

The Today Show has a large audience, overlapping with the broadcast evening news audience. Those folks want to know about Samantha Guthrie’s mom. Also the broadcast news audience skews older and you can be sure older folks are following this story closely. It’s like a manifestation of their worst nightmare scenarios, they are weirdly fascinated.

Elderly persons in their 80s with a pacemaker and in need of insulin, heart meds, and a walking cane need appropriate supports in place.

And she was in her early 80s, had children nearby, a community and a home that she was used to. Maybe she wasn’t ready to downsize or be put in assisted living.

Who could have predicted this outcome. Crazy times.

Start a thread about it and ensure it has the appropriate number of posts.

+1. I was dying to talk about that one but PP didn't start the thread. But he's been found now so there's nothing left to say. Next time be proactive, complaining PP.
