Congrats Grasshoppers!

I counted 23% of GDS posts going to Ivies compared to 38% for SFS.

Wow!!!

Untrue and there are more GDS posters than Sidwell so this does not compute. You are playing with percentages to make Sidwell seem stronger than it is. GDS has the stronger results so far this year, but I hope there will be more good news for kids at both schools.

Here's the GDS list and Sidwell so far (as of Feb 15) for Top 25 schools

GDS - 22 into top 25 schools so far (9 Ivies )
Harvard 3
Princeton 1
Brown 1
Cornell 2
Dartmouth 2
Penn 1
U chicago 1
Emory 3
Wesleyan 3
Northwestern 2
UVA 1
Williams 2

Sidwell- 15 kids into top schools so far - (8 Ivies)
Georgetown 1

Harvard 2
Cornell 1
Datmouth 1
Wash U 2
Yale 1
Brown 1
Northwestern 1
Stanford 1
U chicago 1
Wesleyan 1

Your list is a bit…off. Why would you include Emory (3 from GDS), but not include UCLA, Carnegie Mellon, and Hamilton (4 total from Sidwell)? I fixed your biased list.

GDS - 22/45 into top 25 schools so far (9 Ivies )
Harvard 3
Princeton 1
Brown 1
Cornell 2
Dartmouth 2
Penn 1
U chicago 1
Emory 3
Wesleyan 3
Northwestern 2

Could you please please do this list for Churchill or Whitman? Just for a W perspective?

No, but you’re free to do so. Then, post your findings in the PUBLIC SCHOOL forum, where it belongs. Do they teach students to try to get others to do their work at W schools? 🙄

Are GDS and SFS seniors who don’t get into “top” schools made to feel bad about themselves? If so, that would be terrible.

I think they mean the number of students admitted to Ivies when they said 9

This is something you could do. But just know the lists wouldn't be comparable at all. Kids in public schools are much more likely to be looking for merit aid (which the ivies don't offer, ask me how I know because we're full pay). And many of them aren't even going to college at all, and that's OK. But if your goal is to say "X% at Sidwell went to top colleges but only X/4% at Whitman did," then you're comparing apples and oranges.

Based on the way you describe Whitman, I’m going to assume all their Ivy admits are first gen then.

I read it in an Indian accent like Apu from the Simpsons. It’s ok though because I am Indian.

Oh wow. This totally makes sense. So even with the ultra high numbers going to top schools at Whitman and Churchill, given their likeliness to need to go to a school on aid, the rate could be even higher if that wasn’t an issue.

They’re all given a 4.6 gpa for showing up, why bother with the work?

Nope. Empathy is a core part of the curriculum at both of those privates. They treat each other with respect, kindness, and all of the kids graduate with high self-esteem. That’s why they’re the best.

Ivy admissions percentages from W schools were posted recently (do a search lazy bone). The percentages do not stack up favorably to Sidwell, despite the fact that there are plenty of Ivy legacies at the W schools. You get what you pay for.
