Sidwell has at least 18 going to Ivies. Two are white, two are Black, two are Black/white biracials, and at least three are Asian/white biracials. I believe the remainder are full Asian.

One of the white students is heavily hooked, including being a legacy. I’m not sure about the other one. The two Black/white biracial students don’t have any obvious hooks, and neither are legacies at any Ivy. At least one of the Asian/white biracial students is a legacy.

STOP!!! This thread has gone to a whole new level. Just stop!

Did you come to this thread to police everyone’s posts? You sound delightful. 🙄

If you have toured any of the ivies recently the race breakdown of the Sidwell ivy students is pretty normal. In the campus tours, it is pretty striking how heavily asian/south Asian the schools are now. I’m not saying this is a bad thing at all. But it is a real difference from when I attended an Ivy way back when.

I agree. These specific details are disgusting. These are kids and people and just stop it. First it is weird you know these details and secondly stop posting about it.

The details are actually helpful for parents, in fact most are on these thread to get a better sense of their kids' chances. It's kind of the point.

Obsession with race is crazy here.

It's unbelievable. People need something to blame.

It is now illegal to use race. So there are two logical conclusions: either Asian and Indian students are doing better academically than white students at Sidwell. OR - more Asian/Indian students are applying to Ivies and many top performing white students are choosing other schools because they don’t have a marginalized history that leads them to choose Ivies as a way to get ahead. They are already generationally wealthy, so can afford to have fun in college. Just a guess.

You are allowed to use race in your supplements.

Yes but colleges are barred from using race as a factor in admissions. And if they do they will be sued again.

Yes they will. Pushing out Harvard's DEI president was just the beginning. Woke broke the Ivies.

GDS did even better, and with quite diverse group of top Ivy admits.

The Supreme Court explicitly said that colleges may continue to consider an applicant's stated racial experiences.

.

Sidwell has 18 going to Ivies this year. How many are going from GDS?

Btw, GDS didn’t do well with college admissions last year.

They explicitly said race can not be used as a factor in admissions (and it is clear that it wasn’t from what I’m seeing this year). A student can talk about experiences and this may support evidence of resilience, leadership, etc.

Well, since you’re the parent of a Sidwell senior I guess we’ll stop. 🙄

What part of the opinion prohibits schools from considering an applicant's racial experiences?
