GDS is cleaning up this year.
Congrats Grasshoppers! |
It's incredible. |
How large is graduating class? |
There are about 150 in the class and 42 posts so far. It's hardly a slam dunk. I know many kids who have been rejected and deferred. What you see so far on Instagram are mainly legacies and athletes. As usual, DCUM has no real idea what they're talking about. |
Are you sure their class is that large? That is literally twice the size of STA and 30 more than Sidwell? I thought their school was smaller. |
I have a child in the senior class. The class size is about 125. It is not true that most admits so far are athletes and legacies. Many are "unhooked" as per DCUM lingo. The legacies that are on the current list are incredible students too, so let not pull hard-working kids down. It is true that many kids have been rejected/deferred in the ED rounds. There are also other kids who have been admitted to Michigan etc., but are waiting on RD to make final decisions. Overall, the grade is doing very well so far, by internal standards as well as external ones. |
GDS or Sidwell? |
This is GDS |
I counted 23% of GDS posts going to Ivies compared to 38% for SFS. |
Wow!!! |
Untrue and there are more GDS posters than Sidwell so this does not compute. You are playing with percentages to make Sidwell seem stronger than it is. GDS has the stronger results so far this year, but I hope there will be more good news for kids at both schools. Here's the GDS list and Sidwell so far (as of Feb 15) for Top 25 schools GDS - 22 into top 25 schools so far (9 Ivies ) Harvard 3 Princeton 1 Brown 1 Cornell 2 Dartmouth 2 Penn 1 U chicago 1 Emory 3 Wesleyan 3 Northwestern 2 UVA 1 Williams 2 Sidwell- 15 kids into top schools so far - (8 Ivies) Georgetown 1 PENN 2 Harvard 2 Cornell 1 Datmouth 1 Wash U 2 Yale 1 Brown 1 Northwestern 1 Stanford 1 U chicago 1 Wesleyan 1 |
y'all are going on partial lists when at the end of the day, only 70% of the classes will end up posting on instagram,.
For example, I know of several SFS kids who are going to Ivys who have not posted and likely won't. Same for recent previous classes at SFS. Can't you just let the kids be kids and not stalk them on social media? |
This is just pointless. I personally know several of the Ivy admits from each class and they're legacies--in several cases both parents, grandparents and siblings too. Basically--dynasty families at their respective Ivy schools. The only thing GDS or Sidwell did to get these Ivy marks on their college matriculation tally sheets was admit the kids back in Kingdergarten or 9th grade--these kids were going to their respective Ivies since birth. |
Your list is a bit…off. Why would you include Emory (3 from GDS), but not include UCLA, Carnegie Mellon, and Hamilton (4 total from Sidwell)? I fixed your biased list. GDS - 22/45 into top 25 schools so far (9 Ivies ) Harvard 3 Princeton 1 Brown 1 Cornell 2 Dartmouth 2 Penn 1 U chicago 1 Emory 3 Wesleyan 3 Northwestern 2 UVA 1 Williams 2 Sidwell- 19/27 kids into top schools so far - (8 Ivies) Georgetown 1 PENN 2 Harvard 2 Cornell 1 Datmouth 1 Wash U 2 Yale 1 Brown 1 Northwestern 1 Stanford 1 U chicago 1 Wesleyan 1 Carnegie Mellon 1 Hamilton 1 UCLA 2 |
