Everyone “defending” them here has said they might be jerks AND it was a mutually beneficial relationship. That’s just too much nuance for an Internet forum apparently.

Nothing mutually beneficial in the conservatorship. There was an extreme advantage to the Tuohys and they were terrible conservators. They didn’t even do their basic annual filing of finances. Even the Spears family had the sense to do the money filing.

They didn’t use it. So he can sue them for being jerks I guess? But he doesn’t seem to have suffered by playing for an incredible pro team and making millions.

They’ve used his NIL constantly for the past 20 years to promote themselves.

Is she not allowed to talk about her experience? She was there too.

The weird ass and unethical conservatorship they’ve had on him for nearly 20 years allows them to use his NIL.

But he’s within his right to ask the court to revoke it and further bar the family from using his NIL.

This would be an unconstitutional restriction of their 1A rights. It would never ever ever EVER happen.

Ever.

The Tuohy's are lying about Michael being adopted. I definitely think a judge can prevent them from making money spreading a harmful lie. He was never adopted.

Lies are protected by 1A and it isn’t a defamatory claim so, no. You’re just wrong.

Lies are not protected by 1A. We just witnessed that with Johnny Depp. The Tuohys shouldn't be able to show their face in public ever again but they'll be fine with bootlickers like you to protect them.

+1

It's called fraud.

Nothing Oher has said about the Touhy constitutes fraud against him. Even if we take his claims as true.

Nah. The Tuohys who never filed the expected paperwork regarding the conservatorship better come up with some answers.

Did you read the conservatorship papers? It spelled out that he had no mental or physical defects or disabilities yet they allowed the false narrative that he is intellectually disabled. It also allowed them access to all his medical information all this time. Creepy.

Let’s talk about why they never ended the conservatorship. It gave them control over every facet of his life. They have access to all his medical info. The amount of control they gave themselves was unnecessary even then when Michael was 18. This speaks volumes about them.

You have to go to court to end a conservatorship. Michael has to go to court to end it. Saying it again for the people in the back - Michael has to go to court to terminate this conservatorship. The Tuohys could have ended it at any time yet they didn’t.

What would happen if the Tuohys went to court to end it like normal people would have done? It would have gotten press and they would be exposed as the lying liars they are just as is happening now. I doubt they would ever petition the court to end it unless forced.

You can try and smear Oher all you want but the fact remains that Oher had to file to end this conservatorship and the Tuohys were never going to.

Once again people there has been no actions under this conservatorship for at least 15 years. As someone said, you are confusing Brittany.

I'm not confusing anything with the Spears conservatorship. We don't know what the Tuohys have done with it and clearly you work for them if you "know" they haven't done anything with it. They're going to owe the court an accounting of it and are going to be more than embarrassed when they have no accounting, no documentation. Say they did nothing with it all you want, but most of us don't believe them. They lie far too easily.

Why in the world do you think they would have no accounting? They can easily produce paperwork. There is a paper trail for everything.

Why am I reading that none has been filed as is expected? You make up so much stuff. What happened to your claim that numerous lawyers had dropped the case?

WTF do you think they can't produce receipts, bank statements, contracts, etc? Do you think they operate in some bizarre cash less world with bags of money under their mattress? You're just so clueless about how any of this works.

I meant Cash Only world. That's just not how these people operate. They have bank accounts. They can provide bank statements. People also don't file their taxes doesn't mean they don't actually have the paperwork. They just didn't do it.

You’re either being intentionally dense or flat out lying. Leigh Anne constantly talks about Michael and adoption. She talks more about Michael than her own bio son which is crazy because the Tuohy lawyer says they have been estranged for about 10 years.

Not PP but no that injunction will not happen. You can’t stop someone from using your name the way they use his. Sorry. That is not NIL. Now if their kfc’s had Oher’s name then sure. But in a no -profit way, no.

On the accounting it is just going to say zero. That will stick.

The press this has gotten is going to end their abuse of his story/name. No one is going to pay or support them given the stink that surrounds them now.

This situation stinks so bad people want Sandra to give her Oscar back. Everyone involved has been tainted. I hope the Tuohys retire from public life completely but they are so narcissistic they won't.

I agree. I support Bullock but I would return the Oscar. I also thought the movie was meh and didn’t deserve the Oscar.

I loved the movie, thanks to Sandra Bullock. The Oscar is a non-issue. She just lost her longtime boyfriend to ALS. She should not even be mentioned in regards to this. Her acting is what won the Oscar.

We know because MO’s own lawsuit saying nothing about any actions except the movie. And he has entered into many contracts since the. NFL etc.

Let’s stick to the facts.

What I’m gathering is Oher thought conservatorship was synonymous with adoption; adoption was for someone under 18 while conservatorship was for someone 18 and over. He thought adoption and conservatorship did exactly the same thing, make someone legally a member of a family. According to him, this is what Sean told him. I personally had never heard about conservatorship until Britney Spears, I doubt most people had.

The filing seems to be requesting a termination of the conservatorship and an accounting of how it has operated. I think this could have been avoided. I think they could have quietly resolved this with their lawyers through mediation. I don’t think Michael trusted the Tuoyh’s since the Blind Side movie (I hated it) and I think the Tuoyh’s felt insulted that Micheal was asking them questions about the conservatorship. I don’t think they set out to financially exploit him but ultimately this is what the wife is doing.

Since this story broke I believe we have only heard from Sean and the book’s author (a family friend) and according to them Oher has been demanding money otherwise he will go public with his story. Sean says he has family group chat from at least 2020. It also appears that Oher asked for an explanation about the conservatorship and how it has worked over the years and none was provided.

It’s past time this conservatorship was terminated.

There is no accounting because there is nothing to account for. I bet they never opened a bank account. It sure looks like they never took any of Ohrr’s money in. He may claim the movie money but it looks like he got it or it went into a trust for his kids. And the money never came into the conservatorship. In other words it was never part of it.

So their accounting will say nothing to a cou t for. He will say BS. There will be a hearing and Oher will be able to argue that they should have to account for movie money but nothing else. They will do that. If he knew about the trust for his kids and approved it, case over. I do think the family will be ordered to pay the cost of Oher’s lawyers as a sanction for not terminating the conservatorship. But then the case is over.

I agree that the specific nature of the complaint filed could have been avoided - but I believe that court intervention is needed to terminate the conservatorship. Additional details about the family's wrong doing could have been omitted.
