Seriously with the book banning ?

What needs to happen is parents need to make complaints about every single book in school libraries. I know that would be a pain for librarians, but that kind of chaos could make this system unworkable so they have to get rid of it. They need to face the consequences of allowing parents to limit access of books to kids other than their own.

Are you kidding? That's the result Republicans hope for. They'd be happier with no libraries at all.

+1

Making more people stupid and thoughtless is the only way they get more GOP voters.

It's peak irony that the group trying to restrict children's access to information is called "Moms for Liberty". Growing up, I was always taught that the only thing better than learning was even more learning, including about sex, safety, and normal social and physical development. Our libraries were practically a second home for me and it just kills me that these fascists are now trying to go after librarians.

Have you seen those graphic novels depicting sexual activity with sex toys between teens? How about the one that depicts it with the "writer's" parents?

You think those belong in school libraries?

What do you think about banning free speech on campuses? How do you feel about that?

DeSantis is completely remaking universities because he doesn’t like their political leanings. And there are reams and reams of books being banned that aren’t sexual in the least. Wake the eff up.

Do you think the book banners care? Biden poem = bad, Elders of Zion = good, it couldn't be simpler

Why is it ok to DESCRIBE with words sexual activity in a book (i.e. see Judy Blume, the Scarlet Letter, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, and on and on and on), but if it's a drawing as in a graphic novel, it's not ok? I'm talking about at the highschool level. We've always had books in libraries that include sexual descriptions (I read many growing up), people are flipping out because graphic novels are gaining in popularity so now books include pictures. I don't honestly differentiate, it's the same to me; words might even be more powerful.

However, when you start to try to ban ANY sexual references, there's not much left. This is a slippery slope and yes, it means the Bible should be banned too as yes, the Bible includes sexual references. Shakespeare would be banned, it contains sexual references.

Also yes, people are using this as an excuse to ban anything they disagree with. Legally, books cannot (or should not) be banned from public library based on political leaning or ideology and there have been previous attempts to do so that were ruled unconstitutional.

No surprise that the person objecting to AG's work suddenly can't actually read English

Again, knowledge is power. Republicans do not want children to have knowledge or power. The only way people remain Republican as they grow up and grow away from their brainwashing is if they are kept ignorant of facts long enough, by which time it becomes habitual.
