I can't help it - I want a Neverfull.

Are they really that bad? FWIW, I don't want the one with the logo, want the checkers instead...

Not my taste, but if you like it and you can afford it why do you care what we think. You do you, and be confident in your decision.

Bottega? Those are gorgeous.

If OP were asking if she should spend $2K on a beautiful one of a kind, superior quality handmade leather bag from Italy, I think the responses would be different.

LV neverfull is mass produced and unimaginative. I.e. basic and lame.

Here’s the thing though- a nice, high-quality leather bag is not as durable as a Neverfull. Leather softens, scratches, the edges get rubbed/worn. You can throw a Neverfull under airplane seats, on the ground, etc. I’ve owned tons of bags over the years. Nothing beats these for durability. They are not fashionable. They are basic and even tacky, but you’re not going to find a bag that lasts as long.

OP, buy what you like, within your means- whatever that may be.

Some will love it, some will hate it, some will assume it's fake and some won't even notice it.

But a huge percentage of people just won't even CARE, you know? So if you care enough to like it, get it. You will be the only one with an opinion that matters.

Because it isn’t that much money to them.

Oh so these are the people using $100 bills for TP? And they want everyone to know it? Gotcha.

You’re acting like it’s a Himalayan Birkin. It’s really not that expensive.

Holy shit you privileged, out of touch wanker.

Let me see...an ugly coated canvas bag or a month of daycare? Hm....

I hope next time someone says they have a $20k travel budget you call them a privileged out of touch wanker for spending two years of daycare on vacations.

DP. It’s a GD BAG you dummy. Literally just something you use to carry your stuff from point A to point B and back again. Waste your money on whatever you want but anyone who pays more than about $50 (and even that is pushing it) for a BAG is an effing moron.

I love the poor people who come in here and say stuff like this. They entertain me.

Right? I don't consider myself rich necessarily but I wouldn't spend less than $2k on a bag at this point in my life.

So you both agree? The only reason to buy such a frivolous and pointless “luxury” item os to advertise to the world that you can afford to wipe your @$$ with Benjamins… the mark of not insecure people for sure 👍🏻

Lol, 'kay.

And you are the mark of a totally not unhinged person 👌🏻

Just wait until you find out I drive my kids around in a $150k truck.

I just like nice things. And my husband likes to buy nice things for me. We also treat ourselves to nice vacations. We're overdue for a proper luxurious trip, in fact.

So, like, good for you? Do you want a luxurious $50 Cookie for this or something?

I need to figure out how to market some sort of basic crap to the desperate, insecure, status seeking rich folk with more dollars than sense. That’s how you really get ahead…

Actually you *really* get ahead selling $50 bags to the masses since anyone can afford them and everyone needs them. Lower profit margin but higher volume.

You can say that about anything. “It’s just a car” and “it’s just a hotel room” and “it’s just a beach.” Just because I wouldn’t buy a Maserati doesn’t mean Maserati buyers are dummies. They are spending their money on something they value.

Disagree. They are also dummies. Dumb people “value” dumb things.

Get a Honda.

So no luxury experience is worth it to you, fine.

Not what I said. But sports cars and “designer” tote bags are certainly not!

Ah. So that’s why you’re ignoring my hotel room example. You’re the DCUM “bobo class” cliche who thinks all travel is worth it but not luxury goods.

I finally gave in to the urge two years ago and got myself a MM Damier Azure NF. It's my most used bag and I have no regrets.

I still have my Jansport backpack from high school so… I disagree.

Haha. I think it’s worth paying more to avoid a room that is otherwise tented by-the-hour, but if we’re talking Days Inn with a view of a parking lot versus Four Seasons with a view of a parking lot… I’ll take Days Inn every time.

Buy what you want.

It’s ugly, IMO.

ITA This bag has been a basic b1tch bag for at least the last 25 years. I wouldn't have been caught dead with it when I was 22 and had my first real jobs nd I wouldn't be caught dead with it now.

The Neverfull came out in 2007, so it hasn’t been around for anywhere close to 25 years.

I have the Damier Ebene and love it. Great purchase. I use it all the time for work. I don’t have to worry about it in the rain and don’t have to baby it. I have some leather bags that I actually really dislike now after getting used to the durability of the LV canvas.

Also, at first I thought the clutch that comes with it was useless and I was going to consign it (you can sell it for like $400+ online). But DH convinced me not to and he was right. I use it ALL the time. So handy.

I think it is ugly and basic and I still want one.

I wonder how many people who bash the Neverfull own a Longchamp tote.

I am bashing it. I don’t even own a purse. Just a backpack and some reusable grocery bags I’ve had for over 15 years…
