I need a comfortable couch for our basement TV room. It Hass to be on the small side: 73 inches or less. Comfort is important so nothing or the back of the couch hits low on our backs. Neutral colors or maybe a medium blue. No leather! Thanks!

I also want to change the color of the wood floors. Again, I want a timeless classic look.

Thanks in advance for your help.

If it were me, I would keep the wood floors. But I definitely wouldn't do marble. It etches and gets stained with pee, even if you yourself are very clean someone with a penis will come along and pee on the floor it is just the way of the world it is no one's fault and marble should not be on bathroom floors. If you absolutely must have marble, do a 2 or 3" hex.

Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Of course! I didn't really provide a lot of guidance here. If you're set on tile over wood, and "classic," for a colonial I would maybe go with black and white:

Then I would do a simple vanity and chrome fixtures

Maybe a mirror with a little going on:

A nice light gray wall color and you're in business.

I'm just over budget with these:

Thank you! Probably should have specified that one of my kids is 4.

Gotcha. I was assuming “jail cell” meant anything Windsor-y? What about a Queen Anne vibe?
Here’s a rustic farmhousy option:

And a more traditional one

Thanks! I couldn't think of the right word, yes, windsor-y is too traditional for me. Right now we have a cheap black table (IKEA bjursta, I hate it) and white chairs, but I don't love the contrast. I am definitely not opposed to color and I actually really like the first chairs you chose, I'm just worried that the upholstery wouldn't hold up well to my 4 year old who is seriously the messiest eater in the world

I cannot wait until I can buy nice things again, LOL

Since comfort is the main thing here, you really need to just go sit on a bunch of sofas. I'm not sure what you're saying about the back height. Your height, how you like to sit/lounge, etc are what's most important.

This one is 75 (idk if that could squeeze) and comes in a bunch of fabrics and you could probably find one to sit in at a Ballard store.

NP. We got the first set of dishes (the Noritake) as wedding gifts in brown and LOVE them. They're still going strong 8 years and two kids later and I've only had to replace two chipped salad plates.

I am the poster looking for dishes. Interesting, because the set we have now is Noritake Colorwave and I hate them. The white in the middle is all marked up from use over the years, they look terrible!

NP. I can't speak to the Noritake but I have had the WS Brasserie for 20 years (with navy border) and these have held up remarkably well. They can easily be dressed up with nice place mats/napkins when we have guests.

You guys! I solved this problem with very chic, shockingly inexpensive stoneware beauties handmade by hunky young artists in New York in exactly the color and place setting the poster wanted.

I am the one looking for dishes close to what you found. Too dark/too much brown on the bowls, the green is exactly right.

However, we need nightstands. House is older and traditional (and pieces are really sturdy and no one sees our master BR so it is not a decorating priority.).

Also can you recommend bedding?

That is a really beefy bed, would you consider skirted round tables as nightstands? This one is ready made, but you could buy decorator tables and have covers made.

Thanks! This actually may work. We actually considered cheaper/smaller tables like these from bed bath and beyond years ago; this one looks updated and a bit more chic! I’ve been trying to match woods and anything with exposed legs are not “beefy” enough!

Not loving the bedding, but I know I didn’t give you much to go on (except that I have outdated tastes

Can you design bathrooms? We are putting in a half bathroom in our duplex. Don’t want to spend a ton of money but I’d like a wallpaper accent and good tile but am stuck. Want to go simple with toilet, sink and shower.
