Let me shop for you

I need a decent quality wood file cabinet.

I would prefer that it be better quality than Sauder and Wayfair or Amazon. It will be in an office with a 30/40's Queen Anne mahogany desk.

TIA.

It will replace the one that my parents had in their dining room, which is a rectangular beveled-glass mirror with gold accents at each corner. That one seems slightly wrong since the remodel (not sure why).

We also have a Duncan Phyfe style dining table, and neutral-colored parsons chairs for seating. The built-in cabinets which house china etc. are white with unlacquered brass/gold hardware. The wool rug under the table is grey, rust-colored, mustardy yellow, brown, and cream.

The adjacent kitchen is open to the dining room and the hardware on the grey-blue kitchen cabinets is the same as what is in the dining room. The kitchen island is wood and the countertops are marble-look quartz. The backsplash goes all the way up the wall. The flooring is wooden.

I'm tempted to do a round mirror with a brass or gold frame, but we have one like that in the foyer and it seems like you see them everywhere.

My overall goal is traditional-transitional-contemporary.

I would welcome suggestions!

How about this, hung horizontally?

I also want to change the color of the wood floors. Again, I want a timeless classic look.

Thanks in advance for your help.

If it were me, I would keep the wood floors. But I definitely wouldn't do marble. It etches and gets stained with pee, even if you yourself are very clean someone with a penis will come along and pee on the floor it is just the way of the world it is no one's fault and marble should not be on bathroom floors. If you absolutely must have marble, do a 2 or 3" hex.

Tell me about your house and what you're looking for and I will shop for you. Or tell me your decorating dilemma and I will tell you what to do about it. If you don't post a budget, I'll assume expensive is fine.

I promise my house looks really nice! People are always commenting and asking me for the name of my decorator (it's me).

What can I do on a soffit like this one? Any ideas for artwork? I don't like word art.

My cabinets are white, the walls are a blue like this:

I love wood, gold, plants.

You could remove the soffit, or do you mean like how to decorate around it?
imo if you have room in the kitchen for art, you might want storage there instead. But really you can do any art in the kitchen as long as it's not precious.
Here's one!

I do not want anything blue or gray. Also not a fan of Fiestaware. Want round, not square, some kind of pattern and don't want to eat off dark red or black dishes. Bonus points for no cups/mugs, want dinner plate, salad or dessert plate, and bowls (could have 2 different size bowls). If you're able to find the perfect that does include the mugs, it's fine I'll just donate them.

The colors throughout our home include sage green, taupe, and butter yellow, with pops of red. Ok with mix and match, but not Fiestaware, it is just to bright for me.

These don't have a pattern but they are really nice.

OP, I do not know who you are. I am also really good at this and think it is a ton of fun. Maybe a business?

I can't help with this one, I object to file cabinets. Scan that stuff and keep absolute essentials in a file box in a closet.

Okay but if you post any suggestions on my thread make sure you ID that it is you because I am not trying to have my anonymous online rep confused with someone else's picks.

Honestly I don't want to do the math to figure out the right size for this.

Thank you! Do you know where I find whatever formula you know about? My DH apparently hates candlesticks. So, pooh.

Here are some!

So we need a rectangular chandelier without candlesticks? We could put shades on them but okay. Is there a reason it needs to be a rectangle?
I read "mahogany dining room table" as kind of traditional but perhaps this is too sparkly?

I think the minimal one is probably the right choice but here is one out of left field in case it happens to be perfect.

Ok, great. Long narrow and dark living room, 4 tiny windows equally placed on 2 walls with a fireplace in the middle of the outside long wall and opposite wall from that has no windows or anything. Entrance only from one end.

Couches..sectional which is blah sagey green and regular slipcovered couch navy.
4 sets of navy curtains. Have to keep the couches. Perfectly sized and dog friendly.

Question: what paint color for walls? Light neutral does nothing for this dark room. I need some flair or drama. I can accent in orangey or burgundy things..pillows, art, stuff.

These are both awesome, thank you very much! The first one is within our budget, the second one – not so much. Lol

Thanks again!
