You need to add knock if you are white. Bc otherwise you could be shot at. |
I would be mad at my spouse if he did knock. With all the gun lovers wanting to kill people and claim self defense |
Do you live in a nice neighborhood? If so then I would have knocked and politely asked, because it’s possible this could happen in the future and maybe it’s best to meet your neighbor. I would see what the reaction is - defensive? Angry? Indignant?
Then leave it at that.. If they offer to give it back because it’s still in bags, untouched, I would probably take it. If they had already unpacked it and put it way, I would probably say never mind, and get a new order from WF. |
This happened to me recently, except it was a delivery from a clothing store. I had a photo of the box at my neighbor's front door, so I went to the neighbor and knocked. She wouldn't open the door, but spoke through it, and claimed she didn't have the package when I mentioned that it was mistakenly sent to her. I called security and he joined me at the door. The neighbor then called security (ie the guy standing next to me, outside her door) to complain that she was being harassed. Eventually the cops came, she opened the door and handed them the package, and they arrested her for theft. |
It's a condo, of course randos in their are going to steal. Move to a nice upscale neighborhood with SFHs if you want neighborly neighbors. |
Yes, a relative sent me earrings and a note as a thank you and whoever got them, kept them. Same month an angry young white lady came demanding her package with a picture of the delivery on some ugly porch that was a clear mismatch. She flushed upon realization and slunk away flustered but the correct approach would be assuming the best and asking kindly. I sent her to the other place (I recognized the porch) and I'm sure she had a change of attitude for them. Vile. |
So they’re fine with being thieves? |
Yes, because they care more about "being right" than "doing the right thing". Op, did you use instacart? Whatever you used, you should be extremely specific with how to get to your door and which door you are. I had to describe minute details, since a really big delivery went to my neighbor's house. Our places do not look alike, the instacart person was just not paying any attention, and dropped it off wherever - so now, I give them no excuse. |
We get so many packages. I think if we got a food delivery, Dh or kids would just put it away assuming I ordered it.
I don’t think groceries have an address on the bags. I occasionally get packages that do have an address. For example, I have one pair of sneakers that was delivered to us around Xmas. It took us a while to figure out it wasn’t ours or a wrong item that we ordered. It has been sitting in our garage and I totally forgot about it until now. I think I am going to drop it off at neighbors (2 blocks away) but forget. Same for a box of contacts except this is just a random address and I never mapped out how far the house was. |
This thread was started a year ago but a similar situation happened to us recently. A different grocery store left the wrong order. I called and they couldn’t tell me who’s I got or where our order went so they told me to keep or donate all of the food. They refunded my order. I wouldn’t have had no way to know if they order was a mix up from down the street or a different area. When we looked outside we didn’t see bags on any other door near us and they leave all the bags out front now. |
We have some nasty neighbors who are so horrible to us that if we got their packages we would just leave it on the street next to the trash. |
What have they done that you would react that way? |
OP doesn't need to "force" anything. WF will redeliver when they can fit the order in. Yes, same day. Lol indeed. |
Ugh- didn't notice this was a year old thread when replying. Hopefully the OP has gotten her groceries by now. ![]() |
I would contact you as there should have been contact information and returned to you. No, I would not confront but call police and have an officer knock on door, show them the proof that it was delivered to them by mistake. If they played innocent then police could ask for proof of payment. I would also raise holy hades with Whole Foods. |
