Rescue by media—school opening

Falls Church City is vaccinating all its teachers and staff and has committed to a reopening date of February 22, regardless of numbers. When that happens, encourage media to cover it thoroughly. Push them to press other districts why they aren't taking the same approach -- a school by school vaccination and reopening strategy. Push the Fairfax/Arlington health departments to do school by school clinics to vaccinate ALL the teachers at once so the school can be reopened 5 weeks later.

Yes, FCC is small, but this approach can and should be scaled to the other schools in the region. Make the county leaders tell you they're prioritizing a retired grandmother over reopening a school if that's really want they want to do.

Not so much a media strategy, but I'd also encourage all the people who want school to open to do the following:

- contact your PTAs. Is money needed for reopening supplies? How can the community help?
- if you can, sign up to be a substitute teacher.

Fcps teachers want to be first in line for the vaccine, but do not want to return to in person until all the children are vaccinated.

That is what their leader is pushing for.

Our leader? Or do you mean Braband’s “useful idiot?”

Sigh

When will this nightmare be over!?

I don’t care what they do with DL as long as there is non concurrent crap and the in person school is not negatively impacted in any way.
