Covid Relief Bill thread

Some potentially good news. This is the original Problem Solvers bill. If they can get the liability language and Mitch will agree to bring it to a Senate vote - we're in the clear.

That’s insane.

And it may even be true.

i think you have your parties backwards. Nancy already accepted the problem solvers bill which has the support of a majority of senators. Mitch did not.

That may be true too. Both Pelosi and McConnell are cold hard calculators. When they dig in, it's because they believe there is an advantage in doing so. They are often both right, as both their bases want them to be aggressive in furthering their priorities. Pelosi seems to get a lot more blame for this than McConnell though. I wonder why that is?

Because even though she's 'aggressive' in her priorities, she's LOSING. It would be different if she pulled out a win. She didn't.

This is total BS. Again, louder and with smaller words for the brainwashed:

IT’S MCCONNELL WHO DOESN’T WANT TO PASS ANYTHING.

PELOSI AGREED TO THE BIPARTISAN BILL, AND MITCH WON’T PASS IT.

MITCH DOESN’T WANT TO HELP PEOPLE, AND HE AND HIS MAJORITY PAID ZERO PRICE FOR THAT LAST MONTH.

The BiPartisan Bill is still under negotiations. They've agreed on everything except one last point - liability. I hope they can finish this off, finalize language, and bring it up for a vote on Monday in both chambers. IDK why Nancy let those Reps go home Fri-Sun. They've got nothing better to do than this. Vote at 2AM if that's what it takes. And if McConnell let the Senate go too (I haven't seen this) he's an ass as well.

You win some, you lose some. If you are talking about the election, I doubt that this particular issue hurt the Democrats very much, and even if it is, it might have hurt Trump too. You might have a different opinion and so will historians until the end of time.

If you are talking about right now, this isn't over yet. And even if it were, we will never know for sure if some other path would have been better or worse.

I'm talking about the election.

I'm talking about Kavanaugh and ACB.

I'm talking about the HEROES Act.

So you are okay with states and cities declaring bankruptcy sometime in mid January?

You really think states and cities don’t have the reserves to last to end of January?

But somehow families already stealing potatoes can last past Christmas?

States have yet to cut budgets or raise taxes. NY MTA is running full service despite drastic drop in ridership.

Okay and? They can make those cuts for services through January. The newly unemployed will even qualify for UI to feed their families - imagine that!

Thank you - get rid of local+state and liability

I find it ironic that Pelosi wants lawmakers working through Christmas...yet adjourned the House from Fri-Tues. So they can't work over a weekend but you honestly want us to believe they'll still be here on Christmas Day.

It’s clear to those who use their brain. She wants to stall it through Christmas and until the GA runoff. Politically it’s a shrewd move, morally it’s despicable.

There’s nothing shrewd about it. She did the same thing for the Nov. 3rd elections - promised $600/wk retroactive backpay and a full stimulus once the Dems took the Senate. Instead we lost the Senate and nearly lost the House. No relief since.

Nancy is playing with peoples lives.

We will have a daily 9/11 between now and when the vaccines are widepsread....another 250,000-400,000 Americans will die because Trump is more concerned about staging a coup and a good chunk of the GOP is right there with him.
