Good to keep the math/science problem solving question.

I can't believe what I see is happening with TJ. I thought America was about equal opportunity? Not equal outcome! This school board has no idea about stem or gifted education! This is such a travesty.

The reality is equal outcome is, and always has been, impossible because of limited resources, but the woke try to make you believe it's possible in order to further their own self interest and agenda. This is called socialism.

So how are TJ admissions different than any FCPS sports team tryout?

What if there is not enough diversity on the basketball team? My short, ethnically diverse child should have an equal opportunity to play on the basketball team since he loves basketball. The FCPS basketball teams should support a d welcome him if TJ admissions is now the status quo for FCPS

+1. Will there be "experience factors" to help under-represented athletes (URAs) make the team (and merit-based tryouts need to be stopped due to them being a traditional barrier to URAs making the cut).

I feel about sports the same way that I feel about TJ. If the board thinks they are a benefit and should be part of an educational experience for kids that wish to partake, then any kid who wants to avail themselves of the opportunity should be able to

Yes! I'm not even 5' tall, so my "experience factors" score for basketball should be off the charts!

Although I did not have racial hurdles to overcome, I was unable to overcome the hurdles at track tryouts due to unathletic parents.

FCPS should realize that sports impact college applications too. My short, basketball loving son is being denied the boost he needs for his college applications. FCPS is negatively impacting my sons chances for success. Let him on the basketball team and make him captain of the team!

What is there isn't enough diversity on the school orchestra? Should they start admitting kids who only play at Grade 1 or 2 to the chamber orchestra if they'll add diversity? The Asian kids filling the orchestras are only there because they practice their instruments a lot. That isn't fair to the kids who don't want to practice very much and aren't as good.

track and cross country are no cut. You can be part of the team, but have to achieve something to make it worth while. Seems like a good analogy for a TJ lottery- they kids can get in, but if they aren't capable of rising to the occasion it's a waste of everyone's time

Track and Cross Country are not no cut. At least not at the Varsity level.
