Exactly. But it is impossible to reason with emotional thinkers.

that was before rich people realized that you could prepare for tests- now there is a direct correlation between affluence and SAT scores. Also citing the federalist is not going to help you convince anyone

MCPS switching to universal testing barely moved the needle on hispanic participation at magnets.

Exactly because these students aren't getting enough attention and resources to actually help them succeed. And this plan for TJ won't help them either. But again, the point isn't to actually help URM.

"The notion that such bugbears as as time, data, and the written word are racist has caught fire across the United States in the last few weeks, igniting calls for an end to virtually every form of quantitative evaluation in hiring and admissions, including many that were designed specifically to combat racism. Few tears will be shed for the SAT and ACT exams, even though they were once infamous for causing Harvard to be overpopulated with high-scoring “undesirables” like Jews and Catholics, forcing the school to add letters of reference and personal essays to help restore the WASP balance."

It isn't only rich people who prep for standardized tests.

"An analysis of 2010 census data by an NYU-based urban-policy think tank found that the city’s majority-Asian neighborhoods are more economically depressed than those of most other racial distributions: Their average household income of less than $52,000, for example, was less than that of majority-black neighborhoods. That same report found that fewer than a quarter of the adults (25 years or older) living in the majority-Asian neighborhoods at the time had a bachelor’s degree or higher"

There are plenty of poor Asians who prep as well. And should qualify as disadvantaged, but does those their yellow skin turn white when they test high enough?

There is a direct correlations between affluence and success, affluence and school quality, affluence and health. Money buys privelege. This isn't new.

Or affuellence corresponds to intelligence, and our current economy is a knowledge based economy. Intelligence also correlates to health outcomes, either due to foreseeing consequences, or high income.

Stuyvesant, one of the highest ranking high schools in the nation, is about 45% FARMs. They used a standardized test.

Nothing on BoardDocs. Now they are tackling the academy at Lewis HS on December 1. Return-to-school is supposed to next be December 10. Not sure if there's time for another meeting in between.

Yet another indication their priorities are completely out of whack. How do we get replacements on the School Board ASAP?
