Teacher playing a Taylor Swift video

OP - lay off this teacher and just shut up.

I’m thankful for this forum and won’t shut up.

It’s a teaching strategy for doing the bare minimum

Could it be marketing? I recall my DDs 2nd grade teacher playing Katie Perry music and Katie Perry had some sort of teacher funding for supplies going on. I wondered if the teacher received supplies from the KP fund, the teacher had to weave the music into the classroom.

You don’t know how to teach. If you think you do, homeschool your kid since you’re sitting in class with her all day anyway. Damn you are annoying OP.

Look, I get it. It was silly of the teacher, but how much learning do you think is going on right now anyway? Not much learning occurs during a normal school year. Education in the US is a joke, sadly. Think of teachers as babysitters. If your kid learns something great, but I really just need my kid to stay alive while I get some work done, then we do actual teaching at home.

Things won’t change until there’s a complete overhaul of our system. Look at Finland - as far as education goes, they’re at the top. One big reason why is that it is VERY hard to become a teacher there. Over here? Education is a backup for college students that couldn’t cut it in other majors. I don’t know what we should expect from people that major in Coloring. Let’s give the Taylor Swift teacher a break.

This isn’t bad teaching and I’m prepared to die on this hill.

Switch to private Christian school, you don’t have to deal with the agenda, and you won’t have bad teachers saying no big deal if we are showing sexual music videos to elementary aged students in a reading class.

LOL at the idea of using music lyrics by a sexualized pop star in an elementary reading class, because obviously there are not age appropriate songs out there - sometimes it amazes me how people don’t realize how ridiculous they sound.

Not all (in fact most aren’t) of Taylor Swifts songs are sexual at all. The fact OP has come back multiple times but refuses to say which video it was proves it wasn’t a “bad” video. She’s just whining and I agree she needs to go to a Christian school or homeschool so regular teachers just doing their job don’t have to deal with her nonsense.

Great point. How dare OP question how teachers are educating her children when obviously public education in the US is going so well? It’s not like “Regular teachers” have any role to play in the decline in American public education.

This what is truly nonsensical. Since waiting for Superman it just keeps getting worse, yet we keep voting for people who will stop school choice because the unions benefit from status quo and they hide behind a broken system saying it will just get worse. Well it isn’t working now.

Great job, Ostriches.

This is sadly true. About half of my sorority teachers switched to Elementary Education when they didn’t have the grades to continue in other majors. Man, those frat parties were fun though!!!

It’s PUBLIC school. You want a school to cater to your individual values, go to one.

It’s also PUBLIC school in many countries that don’t have failing schools.
