2021 VA Governors race

Rs more likely to stand up to the unions (collective bargaining kicks in 2021) but Ds more likely to actually give the $ that schools need to make the necessary improvements. Ugh. Why can’t the Rs exile the wackos in their party. I probably agree with Rs more on policy but I just can’t handle the gun nuts and conspiracy morons.

If you want schools to be open, you should vote for a gun nut. There are plenty of people who will talk about opening schools. But then after being elected they will cave when they see some headlines in the Washington Post or elsewhere that they are killing teachers.
It is important to vote for someone who will keep going and not be afraid of being attacked. This is why Florida is open now.
The gun nuts as you call them are used to it along with pro-life candidates, and are less likely to bow under pressure. It's almost always the pro-choice and pro-gun control Republicans who can be expected to waver on voting for tax cuts and other Republican issues.
Though lately the elected Republicans are just getting money from corporations and waver less on tax cuts as long as there's special goodies for their donors tucked in.

This is some bizarro world thinking, but ok.

I also want schools open 5 days a week, but I have less faith that the Governor can actually DO that. They can certainly advocate it and I think the candidates will likely do so. There's a bill working its way through now to tie state funding to schools being open.

Honestly, these polls where 50% of voters are undecided are kind of useless and predictable. The hard core voters on both sides are all in for the candidate that most typifies their side.

I would like some new blood instead of Terry McAuliffe, but it probably is his race to lose. I think GOP will 100% nominate Chase, who will lose.

His special brand on limousine liberal hypocrisy plays well in NoVa.

Exactly what I was going to say. But instead, the usual crowd will probably ensure a Democrat is elected (again). They have learned nothing from their election of Democratic clowns on the FCPS SB. We’ll get to hear them whining about closed schools for the foreseeable future.

So you'll vote for Trump supporter Amanda Chase then, if she gets the nomination.

Whats even funnier is that schools will be back open by August.

Those liberals hate T-Mac. They'd rather see JCF or Lee Carter

Not with school closures the way they are. Both of those candidates especially Carter are pro closure. Carter would be the VA version of Marc Elrich. Blech! No thanks.

I’ll vote for the first candidate that puts on black face or that gropes a female, i.e. I am part of the majority.

Do you people think schools will still be closed in November?

Closed? No. Not fully open? Quite possibly.

if they aren't open five days a week, I don't care who the republican nominee is - as long as they have a plan to open schools and erase the ability of local governments to collectively bargain I'll hold my nose and vote for them

Imagine voting for a racist Trumper just to get schools back open (even though they'llbe open by August). You people are so stupid.

Well if they’re open full time in August, there’s no need to vote for a “Trumper,” now is there? And if they’re not then I’m sorry but all bets are off for many people. Families and young kids are done carrying the load here, and that fact might be reflected in state and local elections.
