Try again? You have to delete the second set of brackets that say anonymous....there will be two at beginning of post. Also you are a bit emotional. And dead wrong about people being irrational. It’s a true concern and not even trying to wear a mask at this point is dangerous. Ask Chuck Woolrey. |
These articles are several months old. I’m not sure you should be going by such old information. New information is being assessed daily. |
NP, but nothing is outdated about that info. In fact, there is only more data that shows outdoor transmission is low, especially chance encounters. The main ways people get COVID are bars, indoor dining, churches, home gatherings, etc. when people are indoors and are breathing the same air. |
PP here that posted the articles (those are just the first I found). If you understand viral load, you'll understand that the same principle applies now. Unless you have a very compromised immune system, and/or the stars align such that someone sneezes directly in your face and you inhale it as they walk past, you're extremely unlikely to get infected by someone passing you for a fraction of a second. |
I don't wear a mask when I'm walking around my neighborhood. It's easy to get away from people and be further than 6 ft away. The only issue is when I am on a nature trail but usually it's easy enough to step off the trail and get far away from another person if they're passing.

NP. Just look at the data. While we were on lockdown, but allowed to exercise outdoors, everyone was outside walking and running on trails. That was prior to the mask mandates, so most people were not masked at the time. Transmission of the virus was very low, almost zero where I live. All of the cases at the time came from nursing homes and meat processing plants in my area.
Cases then escalated as soon as stores, bars, and restaurants opened, which are much higher risk scenarios than walking outside unmasked. |
I wish we could just drop kick all the anti-mask and anti-vaxxers on to their own little island so they could prove how great their immune systems work without Darwin style and then people who believe in science and rational thinking can have their country back. |
Same here. I live in a neighborhood with tons of people who walk (almost everyone owns a dog). I will see dozens of people every morning on my walk and yet NOT ONCE have I ever been less than six feet away from anyone. Literally not one time. |
I have been running outside since the beginning. Originally I was mainly running in bike lanes on the street but moved back to the crowded trails months ago when it was shown that outdoor transmission was extremely unlikely. I mask up indoors only, never outside. |
They will deny their culpability til their last day. It’s obnoxious b |
Yup. No one is getting covid outdoors in swift passes even inches apart. Churches, bars, indoor parties...then bringing it home. Those are the culprits. |
These are also the culprits… |
There are two types of people:
1 - "I don't have to wear a mask any time I'm not at home because it's probably not going to protect me anyway" 2 - "We don't know everything about this virus, but we do know that masks prevent community spread, so I'll wear this mask when I'm not at home to protect myself and others" It's not hard to care about other people. |
And there it is. It really is that simple. |
There you have it, people who only see it as black/white, do or don't do. Don't touch anything, sanitize everything, don't do anything, don't go anywhere, mask always even in your car. Or go out, hug everyone, party everywhere, never wear a mask, and lick doorknobs. There's a lot of healthy, reasonable, rational, middle ground. |
