Kelly Preston Dies @ 57

wait, where are people getting this info about a baby with her first husband? Was it a secret that they are keeping off the internet?

100 percent Scientology would not let her treat it with conventional meds until too late.

Also sad about her death. I do hope that she was seeking the regular treatments and not some faith healing nonsense recommended to her through some crazy scientology person. I know PPs are saying that they allow cancer treatments, but I'm not sure I trust that.

This PP. Embarrassed that I know and follow all of this, but my sources are datalounge (thread reactivated) and within that thread, some screen shots. You’ll find threads from 2005.

Long story short: she had a son with her partner, Kevin Gage. The child had health issues and special needs. Kelly’s parents adopted this child and cared for him in Hawaii.

I was under the impression that Scientology is fine with typical modern medical treatment of physical illnesses but completely against the typical modern medical treatment of mental illnesses. Am I wrong? I watched “Going Clear” and a few of the first episodes of Leah Remini’s show.

I see no evidence just speculation.

I was under this impression, too, that there was nothing in the writings that banned modern medicine.

Having said that, it's hard for people who are not inside the church to really know what exactly is expected of those in the inside based simply on the published writings and public statements.

Fair thought. I also wondered that about Elizabeth Edwards (former VP candidate’s wife) when she got virulent breast cancer following two pregnancies in her late 40s/early 50s.

First thing that came to mind here too - Kelly’s super late pregnancy at 48 and Elizabeth Edwards. It is so awful and unfair. I think they (science) will establish a link between advanced maternal age plus hormonal treatments plus breast cancer. Ugh.

It's also not uncommon for women in their late 40's/ 50s to start taking HRT which is also a contributor to breast cancer. We don't know if these women were on some type of menopausal hormone therapy.

She was using drugs and alcohol until her late 40s, after her last child was born. So she was probably combining fertility drugs and HRT with hard drugs (possibly illegal prescription pills). Who knows what could have happened?

If she drank a ton of arsenic laced white wine, that might have done it. Fairly confident that’s what caused my mother’s breast cancer.

PS - BC can kill you. Lots of women undergo treatment, are in remission, then it comes back at stage 4 and kills you. Even with the best treatment, a two year battle followed by death is fairly typical.

Wow I had no idea about her drug use or any of this!

Did they confirm they used ivf?

Apparently she had the last child at age 48.

That doesn’t automatically mean she used ivf.

Yeah it pretty much does.

My last entirely spontaneous pregnancy was at 47.

Neither did she.

That’s risk data from late age of the mother at first pregnancy.

She had two birthed two other children earlier in life.

She had her first kid at 37. Is that not considered late?

No she had her first kid earlier than that. He had special needs and died of a seizure I believe.

That was Jett. Kelly had a baby (with ex Gage) her parents raised in Hawaii.

Gage only has one kid and that kid was born in 2007, long after Catherine divorce. You’re probably thinking of Kelly’s half-brother.

She was engaged to Charlie Sheen. That alone should tip you off to drug/alcohol abuse.

This kid is 9 years old now. Isn’t that a delayed reaction?
