So do you think that means you'd be allowed into Acadia? That's what is holding us up. I can envision park rangers not letting in people with out of state plates who can't prove that they've quarantined for 2 weeks. |
I have not seen anywhere that hiking is allowed under this batty honor system quarantine. Can you please link? |
Considering police departments will do little to nothing, I think park rangers will let people in... https://www.newscentermaine.com/article/news/health/coronavirus/its-not-easy-to-enforce-police-talk-about-14-day-quarantine-for-out-of-state-mainers-during-coronavirus-covid-19-pandemic/97-5a09864f-6f42-407a-9c23-20f60bf04e0b |

It seems like Maine and Delaware quarantine requirements have no teeth. The law-abiding visitors will follow the law, those who don’t care won’t quarantine.

Here is the link to the Airbnb listing that has the policy in the description: https://abnb.me/KmaMY2UNF6 ——-> COVID-19 Current Update: Starting June 1st, Maine Governor, Janet Mills will allow short term rentals and hotels but has placed an order for those who are staying in short term rentals and hotels in the state of Maine. These guidelines apply to those traveling from out of state into the state of Maine and Maine residents who are traveling back into the state. The order calls for a 14 day quarantine for those traveling into Maine. This does not mean that you are required to stay 14 days in Maine but while you are here, you must follow these guidelines for 14 days or for the length of time that you are in Maine. Guidelines from Governor Mills: -Guests need to bring everything that they may need for their stay - groceries, toiletries, etc. so that when they arrive, they are not going to stores or public places to run errands. Guests may only go to a store if there is an emergency and must practice social distancing. -Guests are not to interact with others outside of the group that they are traveling with. -Guests must use their own car and avoid public transportation. -Guests can participate in outdoor actives such as a walk or a hike but must wear a mask and practice social distancing. -This is an honor system and these guidelines are expected to be followed so that “all will be well”. |
Wow! Thank you! I never realized you could leave your hotel room. |
This. The Governor's office and some Police Depts are admitting as much. |
+1 THANK YOU! |
Thanks for posting this. Have you found anything like it on an official government website? Because all I have found is the Maine CDC website (https://www.maine.gov/dhhs/mecdc/infectious-disease/epi/airborne/coronavirus.shtml#travel) that says
I'd love to know where the Airbnb got their guidance from. |
I found this article: https://www.newscentermaine.com/article/news/health/coronavirus/questions-answered-guidelines-for-14-day-self-quarantine-due-to-coronavirus-covid-19/97-5208d830-b83d-428c-a913-d849ceba33c1 Has similar info as the airbnb listing. |
Great, thanks! Especially as that article quotes CDC officials and says "CDC officials say people in quarantine can go for a walk, but they must wear a face mask and stay six feet apart or more from others. But they do recommend people in quarantine avoid going for walks along heavily traveled trails and be ready to keep their distance from others during chance encounters." Very useful! |
| All I want to do is get the heck out of NoVa and go for long walks along the beach far, far away from anyone else. Very happy not to interact with anyone else. |
+1 |
This is really good news. It would serve the state well to put out less confusing info. It has been a mess, and is likely keeping many well intentioned people away - people who will buy gas, pay tolls, tip food deliverers, etc. |
Thank you! So helpful. I wish they were a little stricter (honor system is not something I think Americans do well with), and I say that as someone who very much hopes to take her Maine vacation this summer. I just don't want to put people there at risk. It's like a second home to us, so I really hope people will be respectful. Sticking to your group, bringing your own stuff, wearing a mask, and social distancing is not a tough set of asks right now. |
