Oh yeah, this summer is going to suck for the royals. They're sitting at home in their palaces and mini-estates while people are losing jobs. Their garden parties, weddings, state events, and vacations all cancelled as well.

Better to be in Los Angeles and free instead of waiting around as anger builds about what you aren't doing. Charles wants people to pick fruit? He can start with his perfectly healthy brothers, sister-in-laws, nieces, remaining son, and daughter-in-law.

PP no one is saying that Prince Charles should have had no visitation. But, clearly he became a better father after Diana died. Everyone has admitted this including Prince Charles! The Royals are not "normal" in the sense that they do have the nannies raise their kids. Kate is different because she was raised middle class but, even they have nannies ( no shame)

NP - agree wholeheartedly here. I liked her very much at first. Bright and engaging and brought a bit of the Diana touch compared to Kate (I like Kate very much too, but there's no denying she is extremely safe and dull, which makes her the perfect wife for a king). But the way the whole leaving the royal family was handled was badly done and surprisingly tone-deaf and I still don't quite understand the whole thing or why it was done except if you see it from the angle of self-absorbed, somewhat narcissistic woman and a man who's so deeply in love with her that he mistakes her decisions for solutions to his other problems. Then it starts to make sense.

In his long years of bachelorhood Harry seemed very happy with his friends and their activities, but he's now completely bailed out of his old world for some sort of Hollywood glamor lifestyle that not only offers none of the privacy he claimed to want, but is completely at odds with his previous character.

I don't think this is going to end well for Harry.

Totally agree with all this. None of it really makes sense. It’s sad because she had some good ideas like the cookbook and the clothes thing. But it seems like being lower in the pecking order really made it impossible for her to stay.

Its actually worse than you let on PP. That 'event' was the first family get-together where Meghan met all the extended members of the royal family (from the Queen's cousins to Princess Margaret's son) and this is how P. Michael of Kent showed up.

It was essentially a major family reunion and Meghan was the newest fiance (they weren't even married at this point!) hoping to make a good impression. I'm sure the impression made on her was that these people would never accept her.
