Usually they’re both egotistical and insecure as well.

I hope you teach your students to use better punctuation than you do in your DCUM posts!

romance between student and teacher? isn't that prohibited?

You think that means it doesn't happen? All the time?

Come on! You really think college girls want to date their middle aged professors?

The damaged ones? Sure. I didn't, and my friends didn't, but we all knew someone who was down with it. So...yes.

I’m married to a professor, and I see this as a pretty remote risk. Most professors are professional and too concerned with their academic reputation to go down this path. There are always exceptions.

Anyway, if you can live with the not so high pay, they make great companions because they have very flexible schedules and can invite you along to conferences in interesting places.

My grandparents met when she went to his office to collect something for her roommate, who was in his class but in bed that week with the flu. My grandma was 21 and a student at the college, but not in his class, and he was 29. They got married a year later and went on to have a long, happy marriage with four children. But that was a different time. They had friends who were also long-married former student-prof pairs. They claim that they dated more or less openly and that her parents loved him.

But I would be horrified if dd announced she was dating her prof.

Just my two cents - but I think a con to dating someone in a band is that them being on the road, touring may be added stress to any relationship.
I would always be worried about groupies.

Two professions I would shy away from:

- Used car salesmen
- Anyone who works for a Republican.

Lead Solutions Synergist
Senior Brand Agent
Future Web Planner
National Data Administrator

Definitely stay away from anyone of those four...

So I typically can't date restaurant industry people or musicians or anyone who works something other than 9-5. I have tried several times and end up crabby because I end up giving up sleep and workouts and they give up nothing.

+1. Life will be so much harder if you don't have the same schedule. Plus, the kid schedule is based on people who work M-F office hours jobs. School, before care, after care, sports, weekend and after school activities, camps etc. are all based on this schedule. Plus I want my weekends with my spouse. It's possible to make it work but it adds an extra layer of difficulty.

I think you should date the person- not the profession.

I’m so glad I’m married! According to most of you my work schedule means I’m basically undatable!

I'm laughing that no one has mentioned this yet - but anyone in prison or that has been in prison.
