Any professions you’d avoid dating? Why?

Other than that, I am fine with Doctors, Lawyers, Scientist/Engineer, Teacher, Nurse, etc. I want the person to have a profession and not just a job.

Yes, the profession vs. job distinction was key for me as well.

For me personally, I would avoid anyone who’s profession essentially requires me to participate extensively, or which gray towels my freedoms in significant ways. Of course, unless I was choosing to make part of my public life dedicated to whatever cause my significant other was involved in. There are also jobs that reflect a persons values in particular areas, which would be a real turn off for me. Those very person to person, though, so not helpful to you. at this stage in life, I would also avoid anyone whose career was something he needed to be available for 24/7. that was good for my younger days for my career as well as my husband, but now I am at a stage where I would want more time together, and I’m not willing to see that time to someone else’s job or professional aspirations.

Seriously? I'm in 2 bands. Both are on the amateur level. What's your problem with people in bands?

OP here- OMG! I dated someone in a band in College. I see your point but if it’s a hobby not a profession I think it’s different.

NP. Sometimes the line gets blurred, though. Like with XDH, who hated his day job and kept asking if he could quit and do music while I supported the family. Problem was that he was tone deaf and had no sense of rhythm, so even some of his bands over the years kicked him out.

No trainers. I’m fit, but I’m not that much into working out.

Like pp, nobody who worked on Trump’s campaign....

Anyone who doesn’t work a 9-5. I used to work all the time and recently moved into a field that is 9-5 and I would want to spend time with that person after work and on the weekends.

I work longer hours but I can see your point about someone’s schedule who aligns with yours. I am also on the same page about dangerous professions (I would worry too much).

Hmm... wouldn’t it depend on what they sell? For example, I could see Pharma or car sales being an issue but not really software sales .

Well that is unfortunate because service professions may attract some of the best people, but you do you

You should avoid dating male tax attorneys/CPA unless you can handle their amazing sexual prowess.

I went out with one while he was just in law school and I thought I was going to flunk out of college because I could not stop thinking about him long enough to study!!!! I ended up sharing him with my sorority sisters and none of them could keep up.

I hooked back up with him when he was an associate at a Big Law firm and he was even better than before.

We would be at dinner somewhere and he would lean over and whisper tax terms in my ear. We would have leave right that minute so I could have him. I still get shivers when some brings up international income repatriations.

Anyway, his lifestyle was too wild for me and I settled for plastic surgeon.

I know my GAAP and GAAS pretty well so I think I can handle a CPA/Tax Attorney.
