LOL MLS will not touch the girls programs with a ten foot pole. Rumors are one of the reason US soccer killed DA was they need money to settle the WNT lawsuit. MLS is not going to spend money to develop the women’s games. It’s just a lawsuit waiting to happen. Do not look for the women’s pro clubs to pick up anything for free. Those clubs will have major problems in terms of payroll if US Soccer stops paying a stipend to the WNT players. I can not see any settlement that will not change that part of the system. US soccer will treat the women and men the same. This means you only get paid if you are on the game day roster. |
You don't have a player in either DA or ECNL, do you. |
The good old days! Those were fun! Winning HS State Championship and arriving back on bus late night to a crowded school parking lot cheering us on was much more fun than all of the regular State Cup, Regional and National wins. |
+1 I am really excited by all of this. I hate how the sport has evolved since I was a youth player. Keep the local leagues strong. We have more than enough talent in the DMV to play very competitive teams w/in a 30 mile radius...and many of these talented teams are not just the big name ones. Limit travel for just a few select tournaments per year. I also hope it just blows the cover on all of the *ss-kissing and favoritism and since returning players will be at such different levels---they start looking at the actual kid and not just give 'seniority' and 'civil servant protection' to kids on existing teams. |
Some will be able to continue and some families will have to shed the expense. Is what it is. |
Pay to play will be even more glaring. Hopefully, it ends up making the cost and travel more reasonable so kids that were shut out before get a chance to play. |
No f%ck way. This will not happen. If MLS may be able to sell a great developmental player to maybe a Premier league club(European union will still have work restrictions for non residents) for good money. That’s if the UK changes the work rules for foreigners. There is no market for a women player domestically or overseas. |
omg. yes. some of the kids that had their stardom in the little kid years keep getting automatic spots each year even when there is so much better talent arriving. would love to see a major shake out. |
Agree. |
It won’t reset THAT far, where HS games are more important than National League games 😂 |
| Why would ECNL welcome FCV and Arlington |
Why would that part change? Hell I bet a club would give a family who has 3 kids who play travel preference over a family with one kid. |
I heard FCV applies but got denied. Arlington won’t get excepted. |
Arlington boys are far superior to the boys ECNL teams in Northern Virginia. It’s not close really. For their boys, they are probably better off w/ EDP than ECNL, so not sure they would go running to ECNL. |
Would ECNL want two teams in basically a five-mile radius? Mclean-Arlington and Loudoun-FCV? How would that work? My guess is that if Arlington and FCV would enter ECNL that Arlington and Loudoun would end up at the bottom of the league. The best players in those areas would gravitate toward McLean and FCV, respectively. It could happen as early as next season. |
